Let's not forget that a prolonged "break in period" directly shortens the return period. Very convenient - for the seller, that is. For that reason alone, I'd never buy anything with a recommended period of days or even weeks. Not only is it technical bogus, but borderline fraudulent.Fs does slightly change, but not typically enough to be audible. Changes in Qms counteract the Fs change. These changes happen in the first few moments of operation, not days or weeks or months... I measured this many times here, and this suspension change is a smaller compared to the changes that occur when the temperature changes a few degrees. Here is a JBL 2216Nd woofer, broken in from new for 6 months, with comparison to being put into the refrigerator for 10 mins:

Speaker Break-In and Environmental Measurements
The subject of speaker break-in comes up often. It's also called run-in. It's different than aging, or wear-out. I see people posting YouTube videos of woofers being deformed into the shape of a potato-chip, while the 'tuber yells at me to make sure and break in my drivers before ever...www.audiosciencereview.com
My heater coming on in the room while measuring even has an effect. Operating the driver at moderate power for just a few mins has a larger effect than break in:
Do Audio Speakers Break-in?
I have a brand new woofer that I got as a replacement, the original was defective. The replacement driver has been sitting around un-played. Seems like it is time to see how it changes with 'break-in'. I got a DATS recently, so I'll use that. I did check it against an HP LCR with a bias...www.audiosciencereview.com
The only driver I ever measured with substantial break-in are small drivers like HiVi B3N micro-drivers. They are small with stiff suspension, and since the F(s) a factor of cone mass and compliance, it is no surprise that changes in spider stiffness have a larger effect.

Manufactures make this bogus break-in claim over and over, gives them a free pass on bad sound and heightens the magical experience for customers who overspend on poor sounding speakers. A quick simulation or measurement with pre- and post-break-in data shows the changes in sound that people claim are audible are actually fantasies. The only thing broken into is your wallet. Even manufactures of great sounding speakers (like KEF) spout this nonsense in order to rope the last few fools to their brand with this break-in fever.
Thank you and warm welcome to ASR!Hey guys!
Henrik Reinholdtsen from Nordic Hi-Fi here (the brand behind these speakers).
The discussion about break-in has made me re-check with the guys from Purifi and they confirm that it shouldn't really be necessarry, as their drivers do not really change over time audibly - you might be able to slightly measure it but it's so little that for most people it won't matter.
The 24 hours originally came from some measurements done by Purifi, shared with me, but as it's not audible (I forgot to ask), we've decided to delete it from the white paper etc. Should be fixed tomorrow during normal office hours.
Thanks for noticing this and let me know if there's anything else I can help with
Great. That's all we could have wished for, for now. Erin's measurements will tell us all we want to know. Thanks for sending them to Erin.No - but as earlier mentioned in the thread we've sent a set to Erin. Is there anything in particular you're missing?
Registration process started. Thanks for the call out @MAB .
The CUE-100 was nice at Axpona. At 20% of the cost, these should be a nice choice.Interesting that Peter Lyngdorf is involved since Lyngdorf Audio (is he still part of the company?) makes a very similar looking speaker but which costs $22K/pair:

I presume you used measurements to develop the loudspeaker? No - but as earlier mentioned in the thread we've sent a set to Erin. Is there anything in particular you're missing?
Of course! Is there any other way to develop loudspeakers?I presume you used measurements to develop the loudspeaker?

Great but you aren’t prepared to publish them?Of course! Is there any other way to develop loudspeakers?
The speakers were developed using numerous and rigorous objective measurements - but also subjective listening tests in many different listenings room and by many people, including myself and Peter Lyngdorf. The goal was always to make a speaker that sounds and measures great, and much care was put into especially the directivity of the system.
Better get them from a third party,Amir or Erin, etc.Great but you aren’t prepared to publish them?
Keith
I give a pass for manufacturers for some audiophile BS marketing, as long as it's not too much/blatantly lyingIn the Deep Dive PDF, they list the "break-in time" as 24 hours. I wonder whether there is some logical reason for that, or whether they have decided, for business purposes, that it is necessary to pander to prevailing subjectivist notions.
