Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2 - Purifi based compact speaker

the Clarity 66 floor stander is released as of now.
A 2-way-design with both midwoofers playing parallel in the mid band? Looking very much forward to the resulting measurements... 10000$ for a pair seems a bit steep but it is distributed by local dealers and their margin raises the RRP, so.....

The 2 way choice is very intriguing, didn't expect that.

Looks like a two-way, how do you handle the lower woofer playing high midrange and its distance to the tweeter from the standpoint of the vertical directivity?

No, Radiant Acoustics ships directly to the customer, that's why the price is so low.

They also sell through Hifi Klubben (in countries where they have shops), which is another Peter Lyngdorf company.

I could stick my head in the port. It’s HUGE.

… and I can’t help think that the grooves in the bottom half are a bit of ‘design’.

They spoil what would otherwise be a very tidy, modern and clean looking speaker. Imo, naturally.

I’d forgotten. Cheers Steve.

Worth a quick trip to Leeds if that’s where they have them set up again.

The price was high for the 6.2 as well, as 3,900 euros for a pair of bookshelf speakers is not a small amount. And the price is also steep for this new speaker, in my opinion. I was waiting for the tower version, and I will try giving it a listen. I was hoping for something in the 6k–7k euros region. But it seems the aluminum cone woofers and the size of the very low radiation cabinets increased the price. And when I give a second look at the speaker's specs, I realize that these would be in the 10k–12k range with a traditional retail model. The cabinet and mechanical design are sota, and the dual Purifi woofers are a premium choice.

The two-way design seems an unorthodox choice and a source of skepticism. The serious measurement methodology shows the manufacturer is engineering-driven, and so this two-way can be well executed. A three-way, more complex crossover would also increase the cost, but they didn't cheap out on their other choices, so it seems more like a conscious engineering decision.

it was a very conscious choice indeed and a bit controversial. everything involves compromises. We gain a lowered midrange distortion and much less group delay compared to 2.5 way. also the main lobe is straight ahead and not pointing down into the floor. the vertical has off axis nulls of course.
