Question re Unorthodox Sub Wiring Config

Hi, new here as member but been lurking for a while

I have an oldish Polk soundbar with a beautiful 10" wireless sub. I am currently using a newer 8" polk wireless sub bought v cheap with the amp disconnected as a passive sub with a Fosi BT 30DPro (the sub's inbuilt amp is completely disconnected).

What I'm wondering – is there a problem with wiring the 10" sub unit (instead of the current 8") to use as a passive sub while its inbuilt amp is switched off?

In other words is there any problem with using a powered speaker as a passive if the inbuilt amp is not powered on (or will the audio be somehow corrupted by the inline circuits of the inbuilt amp even if it's not powered on)?

Pleased to meet you and thanks very much in advance!

It is guaranteed safe if you disconnect the built in amp from the speaker.

Otherwise it depends entirely on the circuitry layout of the amp.

Consider that a silicon transistor base-emitter junction starts to conduct in a very nonlinear way with only 0.7V. If the amp uses a complementary emitter follower stage as the output stage, this could cause some really interesting distortion effects, at some risk of killing the amp. But que sera sera, if she dies, she dies.
