Question about Digital Bypass feature of Harmon Kardon AVR 140

Designed and built my entertainment stand it's open Design 3 legs only shelves to keep the heat down.

I have AVR430 in storage, faulty temperature sensors for protection of the power stages (it turns off right after start). This fault was well known, its repair is even described in the service manual. I had it even fixed when the device was still under warranty. After a few years the fault came back. I could probably fix it myself, but never found the time, the disassembly would take hours...

It is a 7ch device (all power stages identical), I rewired it for biamping my front towers in my 5ch setup. The sound was nice, detailed, but after the AVR fault I use only the fronts with Kenwood amp KA7010 from 1988 (37 years) and the sound is somewhere else - much more power, more control of the woofers, much better for movies (even with no surround), no need for a SW.

You should repair for use as 2 channel analog only amp.

Well, that's the reason I have not dumped it yet - one day I want to repair it :-) But the AVR is hungry, running quite hot... compared to the efficient modern D-class amps...

Yes my AVR 140 is a heater 43C at the top housing that is fully vented along with both sides it honestly could`nt have any more vents, 43C in a room that`s 21C and humidity of near 60%. A cool October day in Vancouver Canada.

The B100`s only 34C and the top housing is not vented at all only the sides have some vents.

I use the AVR in my bedroom now just can`t get ride of it after hooking up the L30 II as a pre amp the audio purity took another giant leap from just using a dac with it, eventually I`ll find someone to sell it to who actually has a passion for Audio purity and is too stressed to try new gear.

AVR 140 vents they are massive but do a fantastic job at keeping the dust out seriously impressive.
