Its somewhat analogous to the ancient days of single-bit, single task computing versus the modern day multi-bit, multi-threaded tasking. But orders of magnitude more in power computing wise.
If they can hack the phenomena of Quantum Entanglement and use as a long range wireless communications, it could mean instantaneous communications across vast distances of space. And there won't be the multi-minute lag when communicating with probes on Mars. Or Astronauts in the future either. Comms with people deep under water or underground too.
And 'secure comms' would mean secure for once.
