Quad artera pop/thump

The amp arrived, it's tiny but feels extremely solid.
Although... :( sounds comes out only from the left channel and I can hear quite a bit of ground noise.
Both channels work when tested one at the time, so odd!
Could be an impedance issue?

That’s a nuisance, I can only suggest step by step process of elimination, which it sounds as if you have already tried.

By "ground noise" do you mean mains hum?
Can I assume you have tested different signal cables in all combinations?
There could be a connector issue.

Yes very annoying, I also tried with different speaker and XLR cables but the result didn't change.
IOM told me they only tested the rca connections before sending it out, so I'll need to send it back oof

by ground noise I mean a background hiss, yes like a bad rca hiss.

OK, makes my question irrelevant, but I am unimpressed with the vendor's testing regime, and I hope you have written (email) agreement to get postage costs credited....

You could get a refund and buy Nord instead - they were in Cheltenham, now Gloucester.
Here's just one model for £415. It can have XLR, but check details,

Let's see if they cover the shipping costs! I'm sure they will.
I chose the IOM over the Nord purely for aesthetic reasons, I cannot get past how unpleasant their chassis design is.

They offer [edit: case choice]though. And the amps might actually work!
I don't have one, so no vested interest. I have a CA Evo 75 which has been excellent to use (Hypex NC122), but probably a product ASR would dismiss.

Yeah I agree! I heard only good things about Nord amps

Should my Quad gear fail! First, can Quad fix it? Then, by the look of things something from the Nord Value line would be perfect!

I did some more troubleshooting yesterday, and it turned out the issue was caused by faulty binding post caps!
As for the left channel not sounding very clear, that was because the wiring was inverted
At least I won't have to return it. Sipko is sending over a new set of caps, and I'll probably switch to banana plugs since they make a better connection.

I think they still have repair capability in the UK.

Quad are now Chinese-owned, of course!, by International Audio Group, so should have solid backing, plus the kit will be made in China . IAG owns several British hi-fi manufacturers, including Audiolab, Wharfedale, Mission and Castle Acoustics; plus Japanese brand Luxman.

IOM felt that the experience wasn't up to the standard of service they aim to provide.
They offered me a 50% discount as a goodwill gesture, which I thought was a great example of customer service.
It shows how seriously the company takes looking after its customers
