Qobuz finally got their connect option working with at least some devices.

It works just like Spotify connect and seems stable. I used the Qobuz app on my phone and have it playing to my Wiim Pro Plus (shown at the bottom left in the picture below). Haven't tried it with other devices yet.

It works with my Rivo+ but not all the time. It seems to struggle with streamer discovery, if and when it can see the Rivo it works great. It sometimes can’t see my streamer despite the Volumio app seeing it fine, so seems it must be a Qobuz issue. Hopefully they resolve this issues as I quite like the app.

Alas not Bluesound

The web player is missing the connect option today. I guess they are still working on it.

On the Qobuz Android app, sometimes it shows the Qobuz connect option and other times it only shows chromecast for connecting to the Wiim Pro Plus or the Wiim Ultra.

I disabled Chromecast on both Wiims. The Qobuz app seems to be showing the Qobuz connect option every time now.

Btw, for anyone who has Amazon Music HD, Alexacast works with Wiims also.

This is great news !

I successfully tested Qobuz connect yesterday with an Android tablet and a Denon AVR-X3600H.
I did not have to do anything on the AVR side, nor did it automatically update its firmware (it did not in years; this device was introduced in 2019).

As this AVR is so old, I imagine that Qobuz Connect will just work with any Heos-compatible device. Heos was introduced in 2017 I believe (ex: AVR-X3400H and newer).
This is information I looked for yesterday but did not find; the only devices that I found explicitly described compatible with Qobuz connect are from the current line-up.
I had to subscribe to the Qobuz studio trial period to test it by myself.

The streaming worked right-away in CD-quality (16 bit /44.1 kHz); I have not tried other resolutions/sampling rates yet.

I hope this message will help others.

I will keep this Qobuz subscription and will soon resign my 2014 Spotify subscription because :
- The Qobuz integration in my system is just as good as Spotify's
- Improved streaming quality
- Better editorial comments and playlists in the Qobuz app
- Much higher pay-per-stream rates for the artists
- No controversial podcast in Qobuz
- Not so much more expensive with the Qobuz yearly subscritpion (less than 2€/month differential)
- It will apparently be easy to retrieve my Spotify playlists : Qobuz already sent me an e-mail explaining how to do it with Soundiiz
- Qobuz recently mentioned plans to offer multi-channel audio which I enjoy very much, and Qobuz has a better record of delivering new features than Spotify which, for example, still has not implemented the lossless streaming it promised 4+ years ago

Enjoy the music !

After a mixed start as per above post, this has been working flawlessly for me the past 5 days or so, and I prefer the app to either Volumio or the Wimm app (the only other two streaming apps I’m familiar with).

Tried it out yesterday. Connect worked flawlessly from Android phone and tablet controlling Qobuz windows desktop app and Denon avr-x3600h heos. I was pretty impressed by how well it worked.

I could almost switch from roon/tidal, but qobuz doesn't have volume leveling in windows app or heos. Also limited personalized playlists, and limit on the size of playlists I create. Also, their radio feature is ok, but it generates the same playlist every time per artist/album/track.

I too have been testing the Qobuz connect app, and I must say it is disappointing. I have dropouts on high res material using the connect app to connect to the Minidsp SHD. When I use Roon to do the honors I have no such thing.
When I use the Wiim Ultra to do the playing via connect there are also no drops in the sound, but other problems are there to replace the dropouts.

I found out that sometimes songs are only partially played, and when this happens I have a hard time getting things playing again. Everything is wired nothing via Wifi, same network even same switch.

I started looking into Qobuz connect to maybe be able to replace Roon, for now I can say "no way".

With kind regards,

Kermy
