What a great DIY project- top-class drivers in a kit with all the info required to put together a top-class active speaker. Very cool.
Could use few 9040 channels and get a state-of-the-art low-distortion system...
Fantastic, Lars.
I'm sure that will be fantastic.
In the meantime, publishing the crossover settings for a DIY active with BYO DSP and power amps would be unreal!
Why, why on Earth did you have to say that?? Most of the people in audio are crazy, addicted, you brought peace in the speaker world and we just had to be patient... I can't be patient! Life is short! Please give us details on the DAC now!! A separate DAC, a DAC board that can be integrated, a new Mola Mola Tambaqui, what is it??? Sorry for being hysterical but that is quite a turn...
If you model the speaker crossover in Vituixcad with frequency response and impedance data I am pretty sure many here would volunteer to turn this into a project with active settings for various supported dsps (can be selected in Vituixcad as not all DSPs interpret settings the same).
The settings needed per DSP model can then be included in building plans from your side.
Will it come before or after Power Supply for amps, that has been “in development” since quite some time? ;-)
Another topic - when is expected realistic availability of 147mm Waveguide - I have put on hold my project, as initial timeline was “late summer”. Thanks in advance.
Very intriguing! Are we talking about a next-generation PWM-based DAC architecture? Complete new IC??Adressing the: “birdies” and “tone-like artefacts”??? You can’t leave us hanging like this, Lars! Of course you can…but come on, even a small hint would make a lot of us sleep better tonight.
Now production of our tweeter finally is ramping up and they are ultra clean and consistent. we mounted one in the Spk16 box and measured them in a large gym.
Now playing with filter optimisation in VCAD2 and Matlab. Here is a teaser. it’s a very simple filter and we might explore other options too.

the 147mm WG is tooled and ready. we open up for orders once we have executed all the pending tweeter orders. About the same time we will release a spk16 description.
Yep, I was right
Some of us will sleep worse waiting for your new DAC like children waiting for Christmas
(Ok, that’s gentle hyperbole for fun, but it DOES sound intriguing….)
All the best, greatly enjoying your contributions,
I hope it compliments the Purifi philosophy school - a tiny SOTA DAC board that can be used in an active DSP system, something like a Danville Sound NexusDSP. Sooner or later there I’ll be a good DSP solution and we will need a good DAC…
Something to be used in high end devices like the 1ET9040 in the Marantz 10 yet still available as DIY…
I am afraid that a compete device would be either 5 figure or get lost between the trillion Denafrips spin offs…
