If these two major manufacturers aren't considered established, can you name any that are?

To the best of my knowledge, manufacturers better known in the consumer market—such as Mean Well or TDK—do not offer ready-to-use "brick-style" power supplies suitable for standard amplifiers.

I meant the recognized Amp brands, even if the OEM is unknown.

But adjustable bench supplies AFAIC are even better, lots of flexibility.

Going from 48V to 51.5V might just be what's needed.

However for the purpose if the thread BETTER VALUE comes from lower price so long as reliability, non interference etc.

$100 for a plain brick is IMO not reasonable.

I bought this psu but it shut off as soon as It reached around 4 amps. My unit may have been a dud though. I returned it. I couldn't find any reviews or tests on it either so maybe if you get it then report back if it can do the full advertised 10A.

You mean this one, right? The 200ASC module you may be thinking of is out of production; it was a discrete module similar to 300ASC (now 300AS1). The 200AS1 module shown here is using the TPA3255.

100AS1 and 100AS2 modules use TPA3251.
200AS1 and 200AS2 module use TPA3255.
200ASC was an earlier single-channel 200W module that used a discrete output stage.

The TPA3255 chip in PBTL configuration is located under the two screws you see on the right side of the image (viewed from below the module).

Yes the fan issue is easily modded, but the one thing I'd want (if compromising on SQ) is moar power, these days that aspect doesn't break the bank. A800 which performs a bit better But you're right in that built-in bass management / xovers really DO add a lot of value Since I'm a DC guy...

I agree that going to a lower VOLTAGE - if you do not need to get maximum power out of your amplifier - can help a bit with longevity

about the same impact as only cycling LI batteries between 20-80%

However since amperes current is only drawn by the amplifier according to use of the volume knob, the only thing buying a lower ampere spec PSU might get you is saving a little money. Buying a PSU capable of supplying 25A makes no difference if your amplifier never pulls more than 5A.

If you REALLY want to optimize this stuff, invest in an adjustable bench supply, feed your amp 42V most of the time, and when you want the extra SPL dial it up to 48V

Or 51V for a 3e A7 mono I don't think any TPA3255 can deliver higher output from a 10A supply.

Such things cost a little more, but really, not so much.
