PS Audio sent Erin their speaker??!!

I would love to see PSAudio actually release good products at the prices they sell them for.
Me too!

Things like investing in this Klippel distortion analyser and NFS system is directly related to that. Improving technical performance, value, and demonstrating that to prospective customers by publishing some high resolution measurements.

I’m product managing an electronics project that I think i think you’ll find to have an awesome feature set and high value quotient.

Will also be giving you a peek at an active 3-way monitor speaker project that currently in the “what-if” R&D stage - “PS Audio Labs”, if you will.

Still, as a self-funded, private, small business, there are limits to what kinds of products and pricing models Paul and Terri want to pursue. I’m trying to prove the viability of moving towards pricing to “win” with new products.

Wishing you nothing but success. PSAudio exists at a place in the market where you would expect top level audio performance and it is sad in past years it hasn't lived up to that. Glad to see you helping turn that around.

One day I would love to see a PS Audio x ASR speaker (i.e. brand x brand). Maybe Chris could help make that happen.

What did you have in mind?

While it will be a rough prototype, I'd be curious on your feedback on this active speaker that we'll be showing some details on in the next couple of months. It's an opportunity for me to make something much more aligned to what the ASR crowd would accept and value.

If you are going active, I think the KEFs are the ones to aim at for a retail audience. I’m sure you know the monitor companies if you are aiming at a pro audience. The KEFs (LS50W, LS60W) are great, but a version with wider dispersion might have more audiophile appeal. Side by side, I prefer the Revel presentation to KEF, likely for that reason, and it works well in a real room with multiple people.

KEFs streaming is also a bit dodgy. You could partner with someone for that (WiiM?, the key issue being remote/point of streaming volume adjustment. Dynamic loudness is also a real killer feature (which I use on ADI DAC). Buchardt active speakers have that.

Also, if the Amps/streamers could be pulled out for service/upgrade, that would be pretty great. I think a certain amount of active speaker hesitancy revolves around the thought of repairs. I recognize there are a lot more amps, but it seems like a modular design could be possible.

S'cuse the late reply here. A full-on active speaker may *technically* be the way to go if the drive units and enclosure are good enough to start with, so subsequent dsp doesn't have to be ladled on with a trowel, but it seems that some lucrative domestic markets still haven't come round to that idea. I can think of a few UK makers now, two unashamedly 'prosumer,' which make active models mostly for their pro clients, yet the domestic side doggedly insists on their more compromised passive versions as they can chop and change amps with the weather. One of these two, making slim transmission line types, now offers an active amp pack to slot in where the passive crossover and terminal plate formerly sat, but no reviews as yet I believe (the likes of HiFi News magazine is so insular I reckon, where actual 'high fidelity' is concerned).

Another well established UK maker of more 'traditionally styled' speakers, is dabbling heavily in active models, but the top version has had to be available with external amp options as well as the maker's Hypex based (I recall) own amp pack, to suit some markets it seems (no idea if they're selling at all as little mention it seems).

P.S. Thanks for staying in touch here, as other professional designers have seemingly backed away ;)
