PS Audio FR30 speakers

I was led to believe that they were being assembled and tested at P.S. Audio with obvious parts from China ? Has that changed?

You were never led to believe that as it was NEVER announced until yesterday when I asked as seen below.

Yeah well, he also stated they would be $20k max too pre-pandemic so...

That makes the 28k seem worse value than expected
As an AudioGod I'm surprised at this. :p

And FYI, my JBL M2's were made in Mexico literally right over the border.

Ok I must be honest it is better value than some of these 70 k 2 way bookshelf and the like you see at these audio fairs

Fine tooth comb?
I'm not sure if it's sad or funny
It's marketing. There is no possible way that makes any sense to unpack each and every speaker and go over them with a fine tooth comb (whatever that actually means) if they've gone through a real strict ISO QC policy.

Anyway do any of you think the planar is going to be a success? The ex German distributor of Bohlender Graebener told me a few years back that the quality control had got so bad that they could not get matched pairs properly and stopped supplying them. hopefully most of the planar is made by robot for consistency

What I think is irrelevant. It's all about the measurements! ;) That being said, it can be done if done properly.

What's the point of measuring just one speaker in a pair when the pairs don't match?
It's about measuring every single one which I'm sure isn't happening.

Of course PSA is going to inspect, test and confirm the speakers are 100% perfect when landed in the US. They are US$30k speakers that weigh 100kg. They will be bought by discerning audiophiles and the last thing they want is to be paying return shipping and replacement all over the US and potentially the world.

They will not be huge sellers at that price, they'll probably bring in a few containers at a time.

And people whinging about not being made in the US by PSA, simply have no idea what it costs to set up a board processing factory, assembly and paint line to make cabinets of this quality. Many, many millions. It's a vanity project and not one you want to bet the company on.

I wish PSA luck and hope they test/sound as good as they look. His reference is a pair of Infinity IRSs, so to even see the light of day as a product, they must be pretty good. I particularly like the stand- it looks like a piece of rail to me. Maybe inspired by long and difficult journey to finally get the railway through to Aspen, Co. in October 1887?

PS Audio supposedly has a 30 day no obligation return policy where they pay shipping if I'm not mistaken. I wonder if this will apply to these speakers. Return shipping couldn't be cheap.

By the way his answer about the same factory that makes Sonus Faber and B&W is partially deceiving as the from price class comparable 800 series is still manufactured in UK and from what I had read Sonus Faber returned even the production of their cheaper series back to Italy.
