Proper Metal music (no pony tails or choral crap)

There's a fine line between having a sense of humour and just being a comedy act ... ;-)

Which is probably why they appeal, as that was what I was weaned on.
Then I have to post a classic in that style:

The American take is quite clear, but still a great song and a great record.

The evolution from that older "desert sound" combined with more cosmopolitan tastes often times gets you little jewels like this:

You also have these Finish guys that sound more British than many British bands:

As you can see, there are many ways to "love Black Sabbath and play from there". ;)

New record from Cryptopsy:

Since Lord Worm left, these guys have just lost it and never fully recovered.

Somewhat older by now, but certainly fits here:

Lyrics are German and pretty much a collection of rhyming puns about turning it up until the speaker goes up in smoke, and the bass pushes into your stomach and everyone goes crazy and the neighbours want it too, and etc. :p

Video director probably is the usual failed art school student, who now has no alternative but making surrealist porn intros for a living... or metal music videos with pink telephones and blue pickles. Haha

DREH AUF!

Quite some 2000's vibe here.

For my part , I was sick enough to miss Blood Incantation in Paris last week...
That sucks! I hope you get better soon.

More than 2000, Rippikoulu, Blasphemy and Beherit are some of the most underground stuff from the 90´s. On Aura Noir or Dead Congregation, I agree with you. All in all, it was a fantastic fest, and I only had to wait 30 years to see Blasphemy. :D

What a bummer. Hope you get an other chance soon.

One of my fave "local" (they are Galician, even if I´m not) bands has released their new work. Worth to be listened to:
