Proper Metal music (no pony tails or choral crap)

I saw 'The Body' with 'Dis Fig' live yesterday, with a very interesting warm-up called 'Seizure Room'. Sort of a "electronic-ish/noise-ish/metal-ish/punk-ish" kinda deal. A great experience, definitely recommended. But I have already posted 'The Body' in this thread, and, unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me find anything 'Seizure Room' has made online.

So you'll be getting something else instead. A few years back (in 2019) I saw Kvelertak live at Copenhell, they closed the festival at like 2 am since some oldies band played 2 hours or so over time. Tons of energy despite the late hour, great fun.

I've been on a 'Paysage d'Hiver' trip for the past few weeks. Lots of material to go through, all of it is fantastic!

My favorite so far is 'Das Tor', but I'm also very partial to 'Einsamkeit'.

Extravagant czech singer Jana Kratochvilova (now living in UK) is not so "pure metal", but her project ILLUMINATI produced two very raw punk/metal/industrial albums. Here are some samples..

How do you get these bandcamp links to show like that in the post. Can't find the code for that.

Just found this thread. Haiduk is someone I am going to have to check out more of; heard of him, but never really listened to much more than passing. I dig some of those one man BM creations, Varg excluded.

I go to a lot of metal shows a year, like ~30/year on average for the last 20 years. I am much more death metal leaning, or out there metal, proggy metal, but I do like some black metal. Of the old guard, I've seen Emperor, Mayhem, and see many next waves like Belphegor, 1349, missing a lot here...some new gen stuff I like Hulder, Spirit Possession, Wayfarer, Cloak.

Most of the best BM bands I want to see don't come to North America often (Orannsi Pazuzu, White Ward, MGLA to name a few). I get it. They don't make much money here I'd imagine. My fiancé's sisters live in Gothenburg and Heidelberg respectively, so I am overdue to go there for a proper European metal festival. Been to both, but not for festivals. I've already done MDF three times, which is still the best remaining festival in NA.

Ulcerate. One of my newer favorites (by that I meant in the last 10 years). Got to see them in a tiny, dive'y, bar here in Toronto. Derrick Villa of Tomb Mold standing next to me in the small crowd.

It was sad to see such a small turn out. Must have cost a fortune to travel to NA from NZ to play to a small crowd. Still very happy to see them live.

newer release from the 2024 album, To Cut the Throat of God

one of my favorite tracks though, from the previous album

Another Black Metal recommendation, this time with a Western twist!

'Wayfarer' with 'A Romance with Violence'.
Saw Wayfarer live this year. I wouldn't consider them proper black metal, although they borrow some styling. They are what I consider Americana metal (with tinges of BM). Not far from Panopticon.

I can see that, definitely. I'm not great with genres, I tend to just consider the "most identifiable strokes", if that makes sense.

Speaking of 'Panopticon', they are yet another artist which I adore (but I have yet to see them live :(). So, I'll link my favorite of theirs here, so that others might discover them.
