Professional audio monitoring for video editing studio

Hi there. So, you can't control volume with a physical knob on Komplete Audio 6 mk 2, you will have to use Windows control(or software with ASIO). You can't listen to earphones and monitors at the same time, you will have to switch the output in Windows. You better take an audio interface with digital out(like the one we are discussing) as KH120II designed for digital input and highs sound much more clear using digital. However I cannot recommend the device(KA 6MK2), I use it only for MA1 calibration and using Motu m2 for headphones and recording voice(shure smb7) and this little device for listening music over spdif
Hi Vamp,
thank you for sharing this information. I was looking for a manual, but failed to find it at NI website.
So in that regard it is the same as with KA6 Mk 1. I've installed this older interface at friend's setup, where he needed transfers from his old DATs and Minidisc archives to a computer with DAW. There SPDIF I/O worked well, but it was also limited, no possible volume control, no routing, and input digital signal can't be monitored without a DAW.

Thanks again a enjoy your KH120s

Hi @Confused I've got a reply from Audient regarding iD24.

I have a good news, they kindly confirmed me, the unit works the same way as iD22. So it is indeed possible route main mix signal to digital output in accompanying mixer app (one time procedure). As a result the signal will be then affected by volume control knob, you can also use top buttons for mute, dim etc.
Furthermore those Audients has really decent sounding preamps IME, that can work well not only for calibration, but also for general recording, say voiceovers or commentary directly to NLE.

The only missing will be then mentioned conversion from optical to coax SPDIF to feed monitors. But there are affordable boxes for that (check Amazon or whatever suitable shop for you).
In sum you'll need for the setup - iD24, one optical TosLink cable coming to the converter, the converter, SPDIF coax cable with RCAs to the first monitor and finally the second SPDIF coax cable for daisy chain from the first monitor.

Thank you for your help and for asking Audient! I much appreciate it.

I think you are perhaps overthinking this, your initial set up it’s perfectly fine. A simple calibration with your phone will be fine too.
If you were working in post audio it’d be different but for editing it’s ok if it’s not perfect, you work with unfinished and unmixed audio content anyway.
