I just acquired a like new DPM-A8 from TMR. I am not able to get the analogue audio feed through the Freya+. I have the A8 set up with XLR/RCA as the output. Source is set as internal player, and the XLR output of the A8 is connected to the Freya's XLR input (just like my previous DAC configuration). The A8 is on my network using an ethernet connection. My music is on an outboard NAS. The music library has been scanned, and the A8 appears to talk with the NAS. The A8 screen shows that music files are playing, but I have no audio. Been checking and rechecking cables, settings, the usual suspects, but no audio. What am I missing? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Headphone jack working?

Do you have a basic multimeter nearby?

If so, try measuring the AC voltage at the A8's analog outputs.

If there's a signal, then the meter will show it.

Maybe the Freya?

Wouldn't you set the source as your NAS instead of internal player. Can you set it to network and stream anything?

Edit : sorry I see you said files are playing. Still might try different input do you have a streaming service?
Volume on the Eversolo is turned on/up?

wouldn't that be a dc output? I'll give it a try.

Volume setting?
Change output to XLR-out only?

Well, that was exciting. I changed the volume control over to the Freya, and blasted my face off. When the volume is set to bypass (turning it over to the Freya), full audio is available, and controlled by the Freya. When the bypass is defeated, there is audio, but greatly diminished. I need to figure that out. Could it be that when the A8 is controlling, I need to keep the Freya volume at full, or nearly so? Does that make sense? I use the Freya as my system hub due to its plethora of inputs, all of which I use. Sounds very nice, and no dropouts, the elimination of which is what started all of this. Ah for late 60's/early 70's when my system was a Kenwood integrated and one set of inputs for a Dual turntable. Little did I know where this hobby/obsession was going to lead. Now I need to figure out how to make this setup go into a random/jukebox playback mode. Thanks to all who gave me suggestions. Everyone was very helpful.

I have the Eversolo A6 connected to my Freya S - essentially same as Freya +. Using the the Freya as preamp, you must select volume pass through on the Eversolo, so that the undiminished signal is fed to Freya and attenuated by the pre-amp volume control. When not using pass through, it would seem that you have two volume controls in the path. If you turn up the A8 volume control all the way and also the Freya does that result in higher volume? I understood that the A8 has a competent pre-amp built in, unlike the A6. The question is do you need the Freya at all? Maybe the A8 has enough connectivity to handle your needs?

I found the pass through, but I had the volume up too high. My teeth were ringing as a result. Anyway, I have six peripherals in my system, a mix of digital and analogue, so the Freya is used extensively. I have been listening using the Freya as the volume control, and I am very pleased with the sound of my music. The best part is that I no longer have annoying dropouts I had with the laptop and my 10 year old TEAC DAC. So far, the A8 is exceptional. Thanks for your help.

Just an update. After overcoming user induced issues, everything is working splendidly. The audio bypass setting solved all of my audio issues. The Freya+ is controlling the volume, and works perfectly. I found that if I go to the music library on the NAS, and engage shuffle play, I get the random/jukebox function. The Eversolo app categorizes the music quite accurately, so I can go from random to full album play with just one button hit. All in all, this A8 has been a splendid addition to my system. As a system, the sound is exceedingly pleasing, and I am really enjoying the 10,847 music files on my NAS.
