I’m having an issue with my Swissonic A305 monitors and could really use some help.

I know that these monitors are wired with reversed polarity (180° phase shift), so I decided to swap the + and – connections internally on both the woofer and tweeter to correct the phase.

After doing this, one speaker started acting strangely. It now activates auto-standby after 15 minutes, even if there is an active signal and music is playing. I reversed the polarity change (put + and – back to original), but the problem still persists – and again, only on one of the two monitors.

If I power-cycle the affected speaker, it seems to work normally for 15min, but then the issue returns.I also measured the speaker before and after the phase swap, and aside from the expected phase change, everything looked normal.

Any ideas what might be causing this, or how I can fix it?
Preferably without resorting to a timer that turns the speaker off and on every 14 minutes and 55 seconds

The issue might not be related to you reversing the drive wires.

It's not uncommon to hear about auto standby circuits that trigger even with a active signal, or that require extreme signal levels to wake up - even in unmodified speakers.

Try turning up the signal of your interface/DAC/Preamp and turning down the A305 knob to compensate. See if that helps.

Good idea — I adjusted the knobs so I’ll hopefully have to do less correction later on with my Denon. Definitely worth giving it a try.

It would actually make sense with the boxes too. The one that's causing issues is sitting in a corner, so it might be getting leveled down a lot more than the other one.

I know that changing phase alone shouldn’t cause problems like this — I just got worried I might’ve accidentally damaged something physically during the mod.

Unfortunately, that didn’t solve the issue
Right now, I’ve rigged a smart socket to cut and restore power every 14 minutes and 50 seconds, which “works” in the sense that it keeps the speaker from going into standby… but obviously, that’s not a sustainable or ideal solution long-term.
