One might worry about the sound of the power cable, especially thin ones, it seems. Imaging the horror of a true cable believer looking at the 100's of feet of thin, thin, thin 26 gauge wire in the primary winding of a power transformer in an audio component. That would have to be quite a let-down.

What about the electrical installation inhouse?
Not to mention all the wires and devices from the power plant downstream.
What if just one single transformer uses inferior cooling fluid?

The purveyors of the expensive power cord say they have an answer to this one, and those who drink the coolaid swallow it, excuse the pun.

"A common misconception regarding power cables is that they represent the final link in the transfer of power after traveling through miles of power lines and in-home wiring. The power cable is actually the first two meters of power wiring that the audio component sees — electrically speaking. In effect, the power cable is an extension of the transformer in the component’s power supply."

Snake oil for sure. There’s so much likely going wrong between the tie in of my home to the main line to breaker box that a 3ft cable isn’t going to fix anything. I guess some people get a warm and fuzzy knowing that the last 3 feet between the outlet and their stereo is running a perfect cord.

isn’t it both? Or is the connection DC?

It's not just the electric cord, either. It's the wall plate. Receptacle plate interference. Thankfully Furutech has solved the wall recepticle plug-in plate interference problem. Only $160.00. Carbon fiber with nano crystals (it says here).

After a multitude of tests involving the best in damping materials, Furutech brings you its masterpiece. This combination of carbon and NCF will be the final touch to your complete AC chain. Nano Crystal² Formula (NCF).

Incorporated into selected Furutech products, NCF features a special crystalline material that has two 'active' properties. First, it generates negative ions that eliminate static. Second, it converts thermal energy into far infrared. Furutech combines this remarkable material with nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder for their additional 'piezoelectric effect' damping properties. The resulting Nano Crystal² Formula is the ultimate electrical and mechanical damping material.

It's reassuring to know that Furutech offers lifetime technical support for its recepticle wall plate covers. That could be the push over the cliff that hesitant consumers need in order for them to pull the trigger on this sort of purchase. Don't discount support after the sale. It's sort of the McIntosh of wall plate covers.

If it actively generates negative ions out of the fabric of space, that's a very good deal. Think about it.

I am less convinced by the conversion of thermal energy to infrared though. That sounds less ground breaking...

I cryogenically treated all of the solder connections in my amps and DAC. Now I've got a bunch of cold solder joints.

Unlike high end audio, the sometimes wacky world of electric guitars has its own share of marketing madness. I think 'nano' particles must be the latest marketing buzz-word. Of course unlike high-end cables, the stuff you string your guitar with will probably make some kind of tonal difference. But the description of them is right out of a high end magazine review.

...these nickel-plated steel electric guitar strings boast a ton of bright, vibrant presence and dynamic punch. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, "uncoated" feel.

Another fun video: 3 very expensive power cords in a high-end system compared

Hear any difference?

Hear any difference?
Is there is any, it is either intended, or an "error" in the recording process. And if it does need a high end system to hear it, then why it could be audible through YT compression, then played with our own home systems?! o_O
As always: complete nonsense...

The end.
