The common nighthawks are migrating southward along the Connecticut River valley. We live rather close (and, technically, at least, in the valley). On a couple of evenings this week, we saw a number of them. One of the two evenings they were quite literally swooping through our yard. I didn't manage to get any great photographs, even in the latter case, but at least I got some photos.

A lot of people don't know about it but Ronnie once had a side hustle as Michael Jackson's body double during the 'Thriller' years. The schedule was so tight sometimes he had to rush off from a shoot to the Crucible or Lakeside for a big match and didn't have time in between to wash off the make-up.
This remarkable new portrait poignantly recalls that busy but uniquely rewarding phase of Ronnie's glittering career

As I sit here at night with the window slightly open I can hear the curlews calling to each other on the shoreline, the oyster catchers are quite vocal as well
