Today's cool, damp weather has brought us the first rose breasted grosbeak (a male) of the year. At the same time, a male evening grosbeak made a cameo appearance, probably one of the last of the season. Terrible photo due to circumstances beyond my control -- telephoto lens through (open) slatted wood blinds.
Still, better than 97.83524% of all UFO photographs extant.
(ahem.)

EDIT: speaking of cameos -- only after the photo was in the can, I noticed the tail of the cardinal (another big-billed bird, happy to eat hard-to-open seeds) next to the latter grosbeak.

A couple of male rose breasted grosbeaks at one of our feeders this morning. They're just back in the area as of a few days ago; first time we've had two at the same time this year.

On the second you really did. I tried to fix 2 things in the first one, though:

Removed the corner of the roof on the left side. Lightened up the foreground and increased color saturation there as well.

It's a bit muddy up the road from me at Watkins Glen. Nascar has already realized they made a huge mistake moving our track from August to May. They've already moved it to September next year.

I know Nascar has greatly fallen from grace and don't watch nearly as much as I used to, and I personally hate all the change that have been made, so please no comments about how much Nascar sucks.
