Today's cool, damp weather has brought us the first rose breasted grosbeak (a male) of the year. At the same time, a male evening grosbeak made a cameo appearance, probably one of the last of the season. Terrible photo due to circumstances beyond my control -- telephoto lens through (open) slatted wood blinds.

Still, better than 97.83524% of all UFO photographs extant.
(ahem.)
EDIT: speaking of cameos -- only after the photo was in the can, I noticed the tail of the cardinal (another big-billed bird, happy to eat hard-to-open seeds) next to the latter grosbeak.
