Used it once, singularly the most unpleasant experience. Really bumpy ride, and couldn't see anything out of the windows due to spray. Even the ferries were prefereable in a Force 9 gale! Only used the Tunnel since it opened.Hoverspeed SR.N4 I travelled on this a few times. View attachment 526157
It has been 25 years since it was withdrawn. I went on it on a cracking day and the Capt came across the tannoy and said” it was a very good day for hovering we will try for the crossing record’ we left the Harbour and he opened the taps. We missed the record by 10ish seconds. The record was broken that year in Sept by the ‘Princess Anne’Used it once, singularly the most unpleasant experience.
