Some fresh entries to my ongoing series:
Terrible Photographs of Raptors Being Raptors.
Had a red-shouldered hawk perched, precariously, in the sumacs this morning. By the time I got my camera, a crow had decided to request its departure. The raptor complied,
albeit probably begrudgingly.
The ensuing scene reminded me of Ewoks chasing Storm Troopers on the Forest Moon of Endor*. Not that my photos capture the drama... but... I
tried, you know? I fully expect a
trophy for my efforts!

annotated...

EDIT: Upon further assessment, it looks like
two more unhappy
Ewoks, umm, I mean, corvids flanking our beleaguered apex predator-buddy!
Moments later, literally just as the
pair (EDIT: parade?) above disappeared from easy view, we espied a Cooper's hawk, laden with prey, out in the backyard.
More Bad Raptor Photos, of course, were the result.
The victim has been tentatively identified** by Mrs. H as a robin, but that's
very provisional.
