Did you find a pot gold in your back yard? well I guess you did... nice you documented it... frame the second one.

Yeah... about that. It's been lots of fun, but I am going to go out tomorrow & buy a yacht.
I won't change, though, nope, not me!
;)

EDIT:
ahem.
In all seriousness - the quality of the light this afternoon was astonishing, even before the rainbows.
This is (approximately) the sky that had initially caught my eye and sent me scrambling inside to grab the camera (and, no, I didn't even have a phone in my pocket). As the photo shows, the rainbow was just becoming apparent when I snapped this first photo.

I love a menacing sky that looks like that,

This is from the golf course above my small town, was one of fav local places to just sit watch the clouds roll in before spms confined me to my house

And a sunset, coz everyone luvs a sunset. That’s the Ross island and lighthouse at the mouth of the bay that leads to my south Scotland town, my mum’s neighbours bought the island a few years ago but found it quite impractical (doh?….really?) as they had two kids under 16 so travelling by their boat for a 4 mile journey up into the towns tidal harbour was rather tedious after the novelty of island owning wore off so they bought a house in town, they still own the island though and the lighthouse is automatic.

Bastards…..I wanted to own that island but I was £499,500 short of the £500,000 asking price :p

^^^ :) Very nice @Somafunk. The light in Scotland can be quite excellent in my (somewhat limited) experience.

I think y'all know that I have an entirely nonlinear response to dramatic skies/light, sunsets, and autumn foliage.

FWIW, my own favorite sunset photo (edit: i.e., of the ones I've taken... not to say the best ever ) - as taken (in October 2015 from our side yard), except cropped a little bit.

Lovely, there’s something about taking time to watch the sun go down that brings a calming zen and mind cleanser to the soul.

Think I’ve posted these before, top two were taken in 2015 at our nearby beach for a mtb mate who wanted sunset pics from us all to see her on her way (her words) as she lay dying with lung cancer despite previously being 24hr uk mtb female champion - just a freak of utterly shite genetics despite being uber fit that ultimately killed her at 38, 5 days after these pics were taken :(, she had a niggling/aching pain for months in her shoulder that she put down to AC joint damage but it turned out to be stage 4 lung cancer that metastasised into her bones.

And this sunset was taken way back in 2010 with an iPhone 4 whilst out on a ride

Not as beautiful as these sunsets, but I think for a man-made colour show it's quite attractive. I took these photos a few weeks ago and it shows some of Hull Fair, taken from my seat on the big wheel (Ferris wheel for friends in USA). Hull Fair has been running for over 745 years, although it's possible the rides were not as flashy back in the year 1279....

It's the largest travelling funfair in Europe and runs for about 10 days, either side of 11th October:

Fabulous images and a bittersweet but moving backstory. Thank you for sharing it.

We hope to spend a couple of weeks in France next September. We both started French lessons a couple of weeks ago!

Good idea... you probably know that France is the most visited country on Earth... number 2 is Spain.

We watch lots of French programs on MHz and the series "Murder in ..." has been all over the country in a huge number of episodes and it has really gotten us impressed and interested in seeing some of the country.

Very hard to see, and apologies for the lousy photo. But it was taken through a sliding door with the 3X on my iPhone and then heavily cropped. It's a leucistic Goldfinch in a flock of normal ones.

This is a "menhir", there are lots of menhirs in France... The menhirs date from 4500 to 2500 years before our era.
We don't know how they where made, transported and erected.
