The door above just reminded me that I just recently masked, stripped, sanded to bare wood, and recoated (X3) my 120 yr old mahogany front door. Biggest regret, not taking a before picture as it looked really bad.

The door above just reminded me that I just recently masked, stripped, sanded to bare wood, and recoated (X3) my 120 yr old mahogany front door. Biggest regret, not taking a before picture as it looked really bad.
I am always a little afraid to take before photos of my projects, as there is absolutely no guarantee that the after result will display unequivocal improvement.

Late September/early October is widely (perhaps generally) held to be the prettiest time of the year in Northern New England.
I am, at the moment, sitting on our porch, slightly chilled by a persistent breeze, enjoying a bit of post-prandial web-surfing. I looked up for a moment, and felt moved to snap a couple of piccies. These are quite literally snapshots, sans any sort of postproduction adjustment. :)

In the following case, a CP filter was added (for better or for worse).

I apologize yet again for my obsession with autumn in New England.

Just a couple of quick shots of all the media I bought this past month or so.

Vinyl:
  1. Mammal Hands – Oni / Lantern
  2. Ancient Infinity Orchestra – River Of Light
  3. Hania Rani – On Giacometti
  4. Paradise Cinema – returning, dream
  5. Caoilfhionn Rose – Constellation
Got the first 3 for 50% off from Leperco.fr with their 'LEPERCO50' Back to School sales. (Not associated with them)

CDs:
  1. Guus Meeuwis – Het Beste Van Guus Meeuwis
  2. Bløf – April (Pickering Sessies Deel 2)
  3. Room Eleven – Six White Russians And A Pink Pussycat
  4. Mariah Carey – MTV Unplugged EP
  5. Macy Gray – Big
  6. Robert Miles – Dreamland
  7. Diana Krall – The Very Best Of Diana Krall
  8. Kenny G – Silhouette
  9. The Lion King (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
  10. Britney Spears – …Baby One More Time
All of these I picked up in second-hand shops. Some of them being well-known classics with maybe one or two good songs on them. And at prices of €0.50 to €2 each I can take a chance on fun novelties like Kenny G. :p
I picked up Diana Krall, Macy Gray and Bløf because of the super jewel cases. Not sure what to think of Krall just yet. So far listening to it just makes me slightly annoyed.

All of them ripped, scanned and put on my Plex server for streaming.

Cassette & Digital downloads:
  1. Kouek – Apogee
  2. Various Hitparade cassettes.
The box is a collection of 1985 to 1987 cassettes with recordings of the most notable hits per month. Fun novelty in a colourful box.

I've been on a bit of a Vaporwave binge lately (essentially heavily edited old-school pop such as Japanese CityPop) and bought one on cassette through Bandcamp for the fun of it.
Other notables in that general genre that I bought as digital download:
  1. Bae - YUNG BAE
  2. Japanese Disco Edits - Yung Bae
  3. Umami (Single) - cmyk!
  4. Junky Memorabilia - Superflat
  5. SAILORWAVE - マクロスMACROSS 82-99
  6. SAILORWAVE II - MACROSS 82-99
  7. CHAM! - マクロスMACROSS 82-99
  8. A Million Miles Away - マクロスMACROSS 82-99
And then there is the new and rising Youtube genre of Rally House. Basically 90's Deep House, Phonk, UK Garage and modern music that is meant to sound like it that would fit a 90's Rally or racing game. :p
  1. Spectra Ocean Dream Circuit - Starjunk95 スタージャンク95
  2. Planet Piano (EP) - DR. GABBA
UHD Blu-Ray:
  1. Weathering with you
I managed to order one of the few region-locked 4K UHD Blu-rays... from the US which I cannot play here in Europe. Luckily there is always ripping it to Plex so I can watch it that way.

Yes BR like SACD I only buy them at the cheapest (mainly classical for SACD) coz it's difficult to rip. For vinyl I only take music unavailable on other formats.

I like to tell people that our property has the nicest view we could afford.
Last evening, as the sun was (rapidly) setting and the autumn colo(u)rs are getting close to peak, I slogged up the hill to photograph some of the views we can't afford. ;)

... and then back down the hill to the low-rent district. ;)

Two weeks ago we adopted a girl dog. She gets along quite well with her new buddy. Both are cross breeds of German Shepard and Belgian Malinois. They combine the best of both breeds, the health and agility of the Malinois and the mental strength and calmness of the German Shepard. Many service dogs you see today are such cross breeds.
The two pictured are the most fearless dogs you can meet.
They both like being vacuum cleaned and I can even blow out their fur with compressed air. Better don't try that with the usual dog near you.Sometimes this gets a little annoying, when you work with power tools and can't make them keep safe distance. They are both extremely friendly, but you may be a little surprised when a combined 65kg mass of dogs come to “just say hello”, approaching at high speed.

37,5km from where I live... by the Mediterranean Sea !
I've posted the image above two or three years ago. You can climb on the top on the other side.
The entrance is not free...

Well, it's the Friday of Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day weekend -- a US federal holiday that, in our part of the world means "hunker down and shelter in place while the hordes of leaf-peepers* descend on us". ;) That cynicism aside, we usually get our best autumn weather, and our best autumn colo(u)rs* right around the 10th to 15th of October, so it's actually a win-win. :)

We're having what the local weather forecasters like to call Chamber of Commerce weather today (with more predicted for the weekend) I decided to beat the rush and head downtown to snap a few piccies. Actually, I had to go to the post office anyway , but it's so freakin' beautiful I brought my camera along, too.

The View from Downtown. :)

The image above is as I saw it (albeit augmented with a CP filter, for better or worse) other than cropping out the power lines from the top of the image.
That's Mount Ascutney in (relatively) nearby Weathersfield, VT.
