Floor of a 2000 year old Roman domus.

I'm always left speechless; think about what it meant to cut, sand, pair and compose a floor with the tools of the time....

look at the precision, the taste, the geometry, the craftsmanship….

every time I go around archaeological excavations in my beloved Italy I remain in a state of wonderful grace!

paintings, glass, jewellery, frescoes , walls, statues, capitals, ornaments, buildings…..

all amazing: they were really good!!

Unfortunately, the town founded in 177 BC. what remains are the amphitheatre, the domus, a temple, the forum, the theater and the perimeter of the buildings, and what has not been looted in 2000 years... but they are truly beautiful and interesting. They were really good and advanced.

Tsk, tsk -- those cracks and that unevenness. Time for some click-lock laminate flooring!
;)

Zoom in and what was perceived as red will be revealed as another color entirely.

Really demonstrates how our perception of reality is heavily influenced by our brain’s role as a prediction engine.
No red???.png
