Thanks. I am safe because I live a few hundred kms to the West. My son took that picture. He and his girlfriend are packed and ready to evacuate when the word is given. Those buildings in the distance are on the East side of the lake and it is about 2 km to the West side where the fire is.

Sadly, the fire has jumped the lake and is now burning 5km north of his home in downtown Kelowna. He will probably leave later today.
Was there last month!

Incorrect. Here in BC, most are started by lightning. https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/wildfire-response/what-causes-wildfire

They have now evacuated. Fire is expected to head into the city tonight.
Been there, get butterflies and chills just thinking about it. Hope they are OK!
Like downtown Kelowna is going to be burning? That's horrible!
Going on ASR and reading these last posts has been difficult and thoughts of those missing in Lahaina is unbearable. @DonR Good to hear your son and family are safe. My cousin lost his home and almost all his possessions in Santa Rosa, CA in 2018 and just moved back in last year after a rebuild. That was a rough path back to take. Hoping for the best for all up there.

It is possible. East side fire is spreading now. Going to be difficult to get all 150,000 out. Road North is nearly blocked. Road West to Vancouver could be blocked by this evening. Only Hwy 33 East remains open. The airport is closed for use by firefighters.

I have been tinkering with an Ai based video enhancing software (Topaz Video Enhance Ai) recently.
Below are snapshots from an enhanced and upscaled version of " Dr. Strangelove".
The movie is in black and white, and the best released version is noisy and soft.
Just for fun, I also colourized some of those snapshots.

I just finished reading the news and looking at images from Kelowna. It looks grim for sure.
Sounds so awful, can’t imagine how it must be for the folks there. Thoughts are with them all.
The area is a extension of a desert that runs north south from Mexico right up the USA and into Canada. So it's hot, dry and very flammable vegetation.
