Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

Yes.
That's why I referred to the layout of the HDMI and ethernet connectors.
But that’s a dead giveaway it’s different hardware inside. However it’s a nice find if it works properly. I missed that when reading through the thread earlier. I’ll try to find pricing.

I got a quote from Polar Graphics:

Part No: DA-HDTV-Dante-Tx-UHD
Description: Multi-codec 16 Channel HDMI to Dante Converter
List Price landed UK Freight and duty to UK paid) : 2,830.00 UK Pounds Each + delivery and VAT

Creeping awful close to DPR-16 territory if it ends up being $4000 usd. With the 4 hdmi inputs, Dirac ART at launch, along with deep pockets for proper R&D.

Who wants to be the Guinea pig?

It’s also missing eARC so you’re limited to a single source. Unless you use an external switch. Which adds further cost and complexity. But even then the HDMI is only 2.0. So the passthrough back to the TV will be compromised.

I wasn't suggesting anyone should get one. It was a just fleeting, whimsical, interest (and I politely declined Polar's offer 7 months ago).

Yeah it’s a tough market. With the DPR-16 launching soon it will be very hard for even boxes like the VID 1X1 based to compete. Even if working flawless. Unless the pricing is sub $2000. And I don’t know if business could be profitable at that price point. Let’s not forget the DPR-16 will also have both DTS-X and Dirac ART at launch. Auro 3D coming later. And the licensing fees for those are steep.

Is there a confirmed price on the DPR-16? I couldn't find one anywhere.

The DPR-16 seems to tick all the boxes for me - except possibly price.

Not confirmed, a member here shared the price that was whispered to him at a trade show the devices were debuting at. I believe only the APR-16 has a released MSRP, as it’s coming out first.

It’s just a rumour so far. The APR-16 has been confirmed at $8k. Even if it’s $6k I’ll pay the extra to have a solid setup. For me it will only be 2% of full system cost at $6k.

On Sep 9 the rumour from AVS was:
Prices that I got whispered to me $4000 DPR-16 and $8000 APR
AudioControl confirmed $8k for the APR-16 on this CEDIA video on Sep 25 @ 10:40:

So I think it's reasonable to assume the DPR-16 will be $4k ( or £5k in the UK :( )

They launched a dedicated Hyperion website. But not complete yet. No links to all the pages from the homepage.

What I hear: "It will be Dirac Ready, meaning it has the ability to run ART, but the end user will have to purchase separately, Dirac Live will not be automatically be included with purchase of Hyperion."

Oh well not too big of a deal. Watching this video of the receiver, the build quality looks like it’s at Storm level at least. With the best cooling fans available. Modular design as well.

Here’s the link to purchase the ART for the APR-16:

Not released yet

The Storm version is $299. So will likely cost the same:

Now officially confirmed that the H16 AES is fixed at 48khz. They are offering refunds.

That's disappointing if it's true and not fixable with software. Are you sure?

Dolby atmos at 24/48 and the rest at 24/96. Thats official specification

Shocking revelation!

Who would’ve thought Nuprime would be the industry’s first box to handle Atmos at above 48k in a sub $1000 box utilizing a DSP which is already maxed out at 48k.

Glad I found this thread before taking the plunge.

Just caught this thread about the Nuprime:

All that came to my mind after reading that thread is Nuprime should’ve been following this thread over the last few months so they could learn about how their own box works. Thank god for ASR!

Audiophilestyle members are just now learning what readers of this thread learn’t a couple months ago. Post purchase!
