Growing up, my dad had what I thought were the coolest things. I don't remember everything he had but I know he loved his reel to reel and good ol' 70's rock. I have photos when I was 1-2 yrs old with headphones on while listening to Boston, etc.. banging out the drums with straws in hand. Now that I'm able to afford such indulgences, I've been picking up a few things to improve my listening experience. My living room is set up just fine...wants to upgrade from the old Logitech 2.1 speakers from the early 2000's as well as upgrade to better headphones.

With all that being said, on my desk sits a new Topping DX7 Pro along with a pair of HIFIMAN HE-4xx. On the way is a Loxjie P20 tube amp, the Swan M50W 2.1 speakers and a pair of Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee's. Here's what I'm thinking of doing.

PC -> Topping DX7 Pro -> Loxjie P20 via XLR -> headphones
PC -> Topping DX7 Pro -> Swan M50W via RCA

Since I'm running the Topping to two different powered sources, should I set it to preamp or is it possible to leave on DAC? Along with that, I'm wondering what the differences would be (given the setup's shown above) if in DAC vs preamp modes?

Thanks in advance
David

Please disregard. Tube amp came early and after playing around with it for a bit, I can now understand my own questions(s).
