You can always buy a flying lead adapter from 2.5mm to 4.4mm , i have one for my 5k but I never use it

That would make it twice the size and almost twice as expensive.

To be honest, initially I thought it's a great feature for the 5K to have a balanced output. IRL, I only used it a couple of times over the five years of 5K's daily use, mostly just for fun and to connect the HD6XX (which is far from a realistic use case for me), so now I think I would prefer a bigger battery instead of the balanced output and of the unused second DAC/amp chip.
