Popping Sound Issue – Anthem STR Integrated

Hi everyone,

I own an Anthem STR Integrated amplifier and I’m reaching out to see if any other owners have experienced a similar issue.

After about 1–2 months of use, the amp started producing a noticeable pop sound through the speakers, especially when turning the unit off, and occasionally on power-up as well. The noise is more prominent through the woofers, and it happens regardless of volume level or input source.

I’ve tested it also with small speakers (svs ultra elevation) but pop remains. I’m using XLR connections, and my speakers are Revel F226Be (90dB sensitivity).

Has anyone here experienced something similar with the STR Integrated?
Is this a known behavior, or should I push for a replacement/repair?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

A moderate "pop" when turning an amplifier on or off is common.

It depends on the design.

The reason would be a slight voltage offset at the output terminals as it powers up or down.

Unless it is extremely loud, I'd just live with it.

During these 1-2 months have you changed anything else, like connected sources?
Was there a firmware update?
If none of the above, replace it.
If sources changed, unplug them and see if pop is gone.
If firmware updated, write to Anthem.
Also, have you changed interconnect cables?
I would not live with it.
Good luck!
