I haven't seen this poll here yet.

I'll go first. I am almost exclusively all speakers.

Any other choices that should be added?

Can't use speakers much in the summer time since my window AC in the apartment here runs nearly 24/7 to control the heat. So summer is mostly headphone time and winter a lot more speakers - although even then the volume must be controlled...

I'm both a headphone and speaker user and which one I use more changes, but overtime it would likely be a 60/40 split for speakers.

I've said headphones in current conditions (mostly home based). Probably 50/50 with car when I was commuting

I am an equal opportunity listener...

When in the car I listen to FM radio, SiriusXM satellite or stream from my iPhone.
When traveling I use noise cancelling bluetooth headphones and my iPhone.
In my office I use my PC and powered monitors.
In the family room I use streaming though the TV over a 7.2 surround sound system.
In my listening room I use headphones or a full stereo with speakers.
I listen to 320kbps MP3, 16/44.1 to 24/192 FLAC, DSD and Vinyl.

There's a huge discrepancy between my preferred means to listen to music and how I actually listen to music. I prefer a speaker setup, but I haven't had one in a long time. It's mostly piss-poor headphones and car audio for me. Not ideal.

99% speakers. Noise cancelling headphones only when travelling by public transport because other people. I very rarely listen to music on headphones by choice. Car audio should be banned. I don't drive and when driving with others I always ask them to turn music/radio off.

And no one has ever just pulled over and left you at the side of the road?
No. Most people turn the radio off out of courtesy anyway. I only have to travel by car once or twice a year, so it's not a frequent problem.

I think the best setup is usually able to be done at home, which gives it an edge. In a car, if done right, you can be enveloped in great sound too and you get an added bonus of basically making your own music video. Some of my fondest memories are driving all day and night through the country with Philip Glass' Qatsi trilogy as the soundtrack. But honestly it technically sounds better on my system at home. Then of course headphones, as others have noted, are useful for many reasons. Up until this year I traveled a lot and listening to soundtracks while staring out an airplane window, flying into a thunderstorm, is an intense experience I haven't been able to replicate at home.

I think it all comes down to we want to listen to music because we find it enriching, and we'll try to pick the right tool/speaker for the environment we're in.

Maybe “/IEMs” should be added to headphones?
Maybe add an option for I don’t listen, I just read frequency response graphs?
