[POLL] Fun Theoretical Question

The majority of people would buy:

  • [Speaker A]

    Votes: 40 67.8%
  • [Speaker B]

    Votes: 19 32.2%

  • Total voters
    59
How?
You honestly interpret my sincere intent as "trolling"?

The answer to that question is either [Speaker A] or [Speaker B].
That is the title of the poll, and the two choices of the poll as well.
I never imagined that such a simple question/scenario would lead to all this.

I can tell I'm not welcome here;
My apologies for the post.
Don't give up. This is one of the best posts ever, not only have you proved that everyone who disagrees with you has no idea what the word hypothetical means you have managed to convince a third of the respondents that buying a speaker that sounds inferior to the one sitting next to it while they are in the room listening to both is a good idea.

Fascinating.

Listening always trumps measurements. All measurements do is point you in the direction of how something might sound.

The speakers I like all tend to have relatively similar behavior - flattish response, low group delay, fairly well behaved off axis, plenty of headroom beyond my average listening level.

I don't know what your intentions are, I know the question. Are you saying that when you ask a question you don't expect an answer? Or a reply?
You asked a question, the answers followed...

But I didn't ask for any replies; It's a poll.
Just vote.

THE QUESTION
Which speaker - in your opinion - would the majority of people buy?

Sure looks like a question to me.

To be honest - I didn't even notice it was a poll - just saw an interesting question and answered it.

But in any case - polls don't work like that - people *always* comment as well as vote in a poll.

I find perception of what I think of my same system varies with time of day, temp, sunshine, mood, previous activities, noisy or otherwise, etc, even with the same source material. Sometimes it’s magic, other times I wonder how I could have thought that. So if my hearing acuity and perception varies so much, it’s hard to believe I‘d be alone in that.
I’d be tempted to compare both speakers A&B against a more invariable transducer like known, familiar, liked headphones to see which speaker I’d prefer.
One thing I would refer to figures for is Harmonic & Intermod dist at low & high levels. Bad distortion performance may not be immediately obvious in auditions but would grow to grate over time, even if that speaker sounds initially better. Can’t be eq’d out and may show up only on certain tracks unexpectedly. Then you can’t ’unhear it’ and it’d nag at me!

Again, there is nothing wrong with your post, on the contrary I do find it interesting :) Please do stay!
