I grew up i Omiš, Croatia, and now I live in SE Florida (got there via England and New Jersey). Summers in Croatia, the rest of the time in Coconut Creek. Here are:
1. A rare event - snow in Dalmatia
2. A view of Omiš from the sea
3. About to land in Miami, you can see the downtown with suburbs and the southern tip of Miami Beach (South Beach)

The Forte da Nossa Senhora da Graça in Elvas, Alentejo, Portugal built in 1763 is particularly similar. This was the Dutch technique for building forts.

Great thread. However, I saw a beautiful review of places, landscapes, nature, wonderful artefacts, and they only indicate one precise thing: the Earth is truly a fantastic place...

,I live in Phoenix most of the time, but my home away from home is the town of Avalon on Catalina Island. I visit there whenever I need relief from the stress of 21st century life, as well as for the annual Catalina Jazz Festival. No hustle and bustle here. Everyone and everything operates on island time.
My apologies up front for the poor quality pics compared to most in this thread, but here's a little pictorial tour ...
The bay and bell tower as seen from Mount Ada:
The iconic Casino as seen from the harbor, built by William Wrigley for his wife in 1929, where most of the jazz festival performances are presented:
A cruise ship, as seen from our balcony:
Weather vane atop the yacht club:

Seating setup for an evening unplugged jazz performance on Descanso Beach:
Deer on the lawn at Descanso Beach - they roam the area freely:

So many great posts, I LIKE virtually all of them and what I really LIKE is the enthusiasm and pride everybody has in posting their surroundings. If you are just reading and not posting, post a picture of where you live or something interesting or beautiful near by.
