Hello everyone, I'm new registered user in the forum.

It's been a few months since I have discovered this incredible place, and I have spent some time reading the reviews that have been shared here and there.

From the information that I have read I took a decision, it was to get a pair of Polk's es60 as my first pair of tower speakers. .

But I come across a pair of Opera Quinta near to my neighbourhood. And I'm being tempted by the look, and the apparently quality of the Opera craftsmanship and materials.

So I want to have your advice according to your experience, I'm planning to power the pair of towers with a budget Aiyima a70 amplifier.

So I'm not able to spent thousands on this, I just want to get my first pair and to keep it during a long time. I have my current bookshelf eddifier 1700bt speakers for around 4 years.

So polk es60 is in my budget I can afford it.
Opera quinta are a little over my budget (1300 Usd) but I will stretch it to the maximum if it is worth it.

The kind of music that I hear the most is Epic music, orchestal music, and latino music, I mean always a good amount of artist in the stage with a variety of instruments doing art.

Thanks for your time you will help me to take a better decision.

So that's the first Opera Quinta, not the MkII or SE, correct?

That's a tough one. The Polk is unlikely to have the same build / driver quality. However, I would expect (even) more uneven dispersion from the MkI Quinta (6.5" midrange and 1" dome tweeter on a flat baffle).

Either should be a major step up from your present Edifiers.

Yeah It will be a big upgrade coming from the small ediffiers, I added some images in the top and a link provided by the owner, I vjess they are first generation for sure, they are not SE version

If they are in your neighborhood, can you audition them?

They are ~15 years old, drivers going bad (eg ferrofluid in the tweeter) is a possibility.

I see no reason to believe they would sound better than the Polks, so if an audition is not possible, I would pass.

In the "class" you are looking at Elacs DF63 have just been favorably reviewed by Erin:

Where are you located? Maybe some members are aware of country specific local deals.

Yeah I know they are old, i just wanted to know the experimented users opinion.
I believe there is people over here that have owned a pair for more than 10 years.

I can test them surely, but I don't have the opportunity to listen the polk es60 to make a comparison.

I'm located in QC, Canada by the way.

There are a lot of mm brands that don't have a huge recognition over here. So it's difficult to find information related to items offered in the 2nd hand market.
