Plugging my stereo back up

My Carina 150 arrived today. What a beautiful case!
It weights about a 1/3 of the nova65se (judt a guess).

When it comes to loudness it's a combination of amplifier power and speaker sensitivity.

Someone here told me they're harder to drive, compared to 4 ohm.

You generally get more power with lower impedance and if the impedance is too low for a given amplifier it can "over-stress" the amp.

Impedance (and resistance, both measured in Ohms) is "the resistance to current flow".

With constant voltage, current is inversely proportional to resistance/impedance, and power is a combination of voltage and current so at half the impedance you can get twice the current and twice the wattage.

BTW - Current is proportional to voltage so if you double the voltage (with the same impedance) you also double the current for four times the wattage.

From what I found about the Peachtree it can put-out twice the power at 4-Ohms.

Amplifiers are considered "constant voltage" devices which means the voltage remains constant with varying load (or independent of the load) as long as they are operated within their limits. (Of course the voltage isn't truly constant because it varies with program loudness and the volume control, etc.)

But some amps are not rated for 4-Ohms and they can overheat and burn-up. Or some amps are rated for 4-Ohms but they get "current starved" and clip at a lower voltage so you might not get double the power.

Ok, I noticed that my subwoofer is playing at much lower volume than when it was on the nova65se.
Is this because the carina has to be broken in?
The subwoofer (sb2000) is getting signal, but I had to go and increase the volume on the sub quite a bit.

Not related to burn-in whatsoever, and in the first place, electronics like your Carina don't burn in anyway.

In ten year's time, it'll perform just like the moment you took it out of the box.

The only components that can burn in are woofers, and that happens in the first 24h of use.

Then what would cause the subwoofer volume to be so low?
Even with the subs volume maxed, its not as loud as when it was on the nova65se at less than half volume.

There are differences in their preamp output voltage.

The design of the circuit boards inside your two Amps.
If WideEyedToad thinks there is not enough juice in to his sub with the Carina 150. In that case, what do you think about sending the pre amp signal from the Carina 150 to the Nova65SE then the pre out from the Nova65SE to the subwoofer?

A bit wasteful to keep a whole Int Amp powered up just to use it as a Line signal booster.

If it works, sure, one can do it but there's got to be a better way.

I emailed peachtree, hopefully get a response tomorrow. I'm hoping its not a faulty unit.

Do you have a general purpose multimeter? That would be immensely helpful for diagnosis and troubleshooting, also for Peachtree customer support.

Would this work? Hahah

I actually talked to peachtree, they said its normal for me to raise the gain..
Also called svs and asked if the sb2000 pro can be paired to the older sb2000, and they said it would work, id just have to match gains. Ordered the pro.
I'm thinking maybe I'll get a splitter cable, and plug the subs into the Wiim ultra instead of the peachtree.
