You're all awesome! Thanks so much :)
I was unaware I could still use the menu without the remote.
I was able to click to 'line in', and now it works perfectly. So I can get way louder audio. So the setup was working but not selected properly. Mystery solved :)

Thank you for taking the time and helping out. Always seems like a simple solution afterwards, but really couldn't figure it out, tried a lot already haha

@danchme A better connection method is to connect the TV's L & R audio outputs to the corresponding jacks on the DVD player (yellow).

And the best one is with optical cable (red).

Would it make a difference in sound quality?
I'm usually using the L and R for my Wii console so a bit of a hustle to change all the time
But optical I could try. Is it much better?

Now I'm confused - are the connections L & R on the TV audio outputs or inputs?
If they are audio inputs, then my recommendation above does not apply.

Guys the optical on the DVD player is an output, it clearly shows the RED LED glowing.

There is another line-in on the front. Maybe that one works better…

I would suggest that since we found a working one never to touch again.
Ever.
You can tell by the manual(s),it's not for many experiments :)
