About the DR values of the albums, just to give you some feedback:

It is interesting that the DR value comes out different for each album: Riera DR13, Cabrera DR15, Wind Quintets DR14.

All the albums are processed exactly the same way. None of them have any dynamic range compression whatsoever. They all feature the full dynamic range of the performance.

I would think that in this case the DR meter value would not be a representation of the level of compression (because there is none). I'd say it tell us about the dynamic range of the performance itself which would have to do with the architecture of the composition and the interpretation of the artist.

Back when I started this thread we were at calibration version 2.0f. We are currently on calibration 2.1j.

For those who might not know about our project we are using a fixed recording setup to try to develop a truly transparent audio recording system. Over the years we have been developing new more transparent calibrations that we have applied to all our recordings (we can do that because all our albums have been recorded using the same physical setup).

I would be delighted to share this latest version with you all. Many of you already have our releases on some of our previous calibrations and it would be very useful to us to have your feedback on this latest one.

Actually I'd prefer a well recorded media more than the content itself !!
Sounds absurd, but I got to appreciate Jazz and Classical music thanks to good labels that prioritized good recording engineers.
