Pitt & Giblin speakers (Spinorama available)

Erin is also probably unnecessary to them. Their market isn't ASR data analyst types; it's design types who want some reassurance of sound quality but won't drill down further.

You send them the measurements, they do the corrections, then update the DSP.
Not that practical. The above model illustrates the caveats against the design idea pretty well. Center to center distance is about 60cm, two wavelegths nearly of the x/over frequency. That's asking for trouble.

The secondary fingers won't be as large with the real drivers, but the main lobe is getting very narrow. W/o real data that's a bit speculative, but ...

Obviously there was no deeper consideration involved when designing the various models, hence the wide spread in set-up, keeping the repeating 'brass' looks alone. For the, to me, most critical types no measurements are shown. And those shown are somehow superficial.

They don't finish the casting with a polishing operation so you can see some grain.
I would think there will be significant patina over time if they haven't coated them with some sort of sealant. That wouldn't effect the sound, but definitely the looks ...

Where's that coming from? The "Flare" model has an 8 inch woofer and a specified crossover frequency of 900Hz. From the given dimensions, I'd guess a c-c spacing of ~24cm. The "Superwax Mini" has a similar crossover frequency but a bit wider spacing (probably approximately one wavelength).

I see, missed the smaller size of the woofer. Your estimation is quite reasonable.

Because some praise the presence of a spinorama, if there is, it doesn't tell the truth on those designs. The problem mentioned is still there, but (the possible solution) is not covered by the plots. All in all I see no innovation worth mentioning except for the brass horn being made of brass. And a fresh twist in marketing language, sorry guys.
 
Fate! This morning, I stumbled upon the website of this Tasmanian speaker manufacturer. I read their site with both wonder and frustration. Amazed by the aesthetics and the painstaking care put into their manufacture, by the use of DSPs and Hypex Ncore amplifiers to power them.

Frustrated because the technical data is sparse regarding the supplier and the speaker models used. Except that I guessed that one of the models used—a two-way compression driver—is therefore likely a BMS.

Then I saw the few measurements provided, not nearly enough... but excellent if they're honest.

And I went to check the prices, pulling my head back into my shoulders! But surprisingly, the prices I'm looking at are plausible in a market where so many mediocre speakers from better-known brands cost much more...

So, I'm thinking I haven't seen anything about ASR in the comments or threads, even though we have a group of serious guys based in Australia! They're either not sharing or not curious!

So, I do a search and come across this topic.
Really, I'm thinking that given the care put into their manufacture, given the electronics used to filter and power them, and probably correct them from the ground up, it would be surprising if they weren't excellent...

Nice find. I added the 3 speakers to Spinorama. I am not sure if the spin are from measurements or simulation in VituixCAD and if they are eqed already (which I assumed) so take it with a pinch of salt for now.

Superwax mini (15 inch+horn) vs JBL M2 (same) both with EQ. So nice looking, cheaper and better: sounds like a good deal.

Which model exactly? The descriptions I've read mention a 1" driver with titanium diaphragm.
I'll look for the model, but probably the one that uses the double bronze bell extended by another carved in birch. It speaks of a two-way compression chamber.

These are very cool... sort of like aesthetically tweaked OJAS variants, with modernized horn designs.
Wonder how they'd compare to the current crop of Klipsch loudspeakers with onboard DSP and whatnot?
 
Bit late to this thread but wanted to post nonetheless.

I purchased a pair of Superwax Minis for my music studio. I committed to the speakers after having several phone calls with the owners, who were incredibly kind in their time and patient with my questions. They are very transparent about their speaker’s capabilities, and I was so reassured by the conversations we had that I took the leap of faith to buy them unheard.

They are absolutely exceptional speakers, which I use in a midfield capacity while mastering, listening distance roughly 2.3 meters/7.5 feet, in a very well treated room. I included a response graph taken while I was doing room tuning as a reference. There’s still a couple room EQ correction changes and room treatment I need to implement to maximize the speakers abilities a bit more. Please note this is with psychoacoustic smoothing from Room EQ Wizard and measurement was taken at the listening position over 2m from the speaker.

Dips at 170ish are from floor bounce and some comb filtering from reflections are visibly peaking or dipping between 300-800 Hz (I believe my front wall and possible floor/rack gear is the culprit in these measurements - just back, ceiling, and side walls are fully treated). However, you can see the bass region subtly lifts, and the highs gently fall from 1k toward 20k. -6 dB point for the bass is 22 Hz at 69 dB SPL, down from 30 Hz peak at 75 dB SPL. Very much still audible and present, no need for a subwoofer at all.

Stunning sound, truly. Exceptionally well designed, and of course clients jaws hit the floor when they get their eyes and ears on them!

Omg — this is insanely good! As a big-woofer, big-horn fan, I’m literally drooling.
I just love that tighter, more focused dispersion — that’s exactly my kind of sound.:)

As a subjective reference, I would say that directivity is actually very focused. At the moment I have them slightly off axis so that the angle of the speakers is pointed just past the listening position.

I intend to change this to a fully on-axis position pointed directly at the listening position specifically because having it angled slightly past can create a bit of a feeling that you are listening to speakers on the sides of you, particularly when musical content was mixed to a wide soundstage.

In other words, directionally they can be very precise, but the sweet spot is perfectly large enough to make good judgement calls when moving slightly left or right while working (as in, the phantom center stays in a good spot, and tonality is accurate so that I can EQ just fine while accessing rack gear to the sides.)

Granted this is in a heavily treated room, and with less side wall treatment I might get some more perceived width from reflections (for better or worse!).

Overall there is a good mix of natural room liveliness and incident wave sound. When I correct floor bounce and the comb filtering I will see if that pushes things to the “dead” territory on decay times and adjust from there. If I remember to return when done, I will post further measurements so all can see a real world listening situation and make their own judgments on performance!

Listening on-axis with speakers that have strong directivity is just irresistible.
I can totally relate since I also use JBLs.
Even in rooms with a lot of reflections, I imagine these Pitt & Giblin speakers would still sound excellent thanks to their well-balanced off-axis response.
Please post again when you have more updates — I’d love to see them.
 
i heard the superwax, superwax mini and flares at their showroom last year. completely impressed, and i own the kii/bxts. i'll be in tasmania in a couple of weeks and hope to hear them again.
