The "Why": 1) I must have a weak coffee (popej's post woke me up)prior to posting, 2) Missed the part that you said volume was at -40.
At -40 regardless of what you were listening to, the amplifier section likely was outputting very low level, so it is understandable that the measured "power" would roughly = power consumed by the video section and the other overheads (as mentioned by another poster earlier on) and therefore would look a flat fine.

"Direct Energy" seems to be a marketing term. Feature discussed here is an optimization of amplifier power losses. There is no mention about it in manual, and there is no way to turn it on/off. IMO this is a similar feature, that Denon calls "Eco Auto". See Denon description of "Auto":
