The main thing I remember about Pink Floyd is that when you went to a hifi store in the 70s, every turntable, amp and/or speaker demo came with a required spin of Money from Dark Side of the Moon.

And by that it at least introduced the unusual 7/4 time signature to the unwashed masses ;-)

Ha ha, thank you. Same here. For me, they're one of those bands I consistently avoid. Their songs contain good ideas, but the execution is awful – lame, soulless, cold. Strangely enough, almost every cover version of their songs is far superior to the original.

As an adolescent I heard Interstellar Overdrive in 1968 on KMPX on my transistor radio turned low in my room late at night and was hooked on them. Later when in college I went with some friends to see the avant garde movie San Francisco an they were impressed that I identified the theme song.

Pink and Floyd were actually two different guys. To keep it confusing the band Pink Floyd was four entirely different guys. Well five in total, I suppose, although I confess no appetite for the Sid period.

To this day, despite loving Pink Floyd all my life, I don't remember nor know the stuff by the Pink or the Floyd from who they assembled their name.
