I wanted to share last weekend’s project, roFrame. This is a Roon display powered by a Raspberry Pi that you can place anywhere you like. It also acts as a picture frame when not in use.

Since it’s an open-source project, you can modify it to your liking—as I did.

I’m happy to take ideas for new features.

Enjoy!

Excellent DIY project!! can you tell us about the cost of the components, must be not too much. I have been trying Roon for 2 weeks now; what a sleek and functional software, I can tell why Amir and other guys like it so much, but..... for a common music aficionado like me (I suspect the majority here) cost/benefit ratio is not there, The paramount things Roon can do, Apple ecosystem can do also, DSP can be achieved by other means, but yes the interface is gorgeous and informative, but way too expensive!.
Anyway what i have been trying these days is also "Music Assistant" still kind of buggy, but it is free and open source and developers constantly upgrading, has multichannel DSP, it has great potential even surpassing what Roon can do at your home, image scene and routines with your music collection!
I am guessing doing a similar project with Music Assistant is possible, what do you think.

Thanks! The cost for the RPi 4, power supply, SD card, and screen parts is about $167 from Amazon as of today. I updated the parts list in the README file.

I have been using Roon for a couple of years now, and I like it very much. Music Assistant seems interesting as it seems to integrate with Home Assistant, which is something I was going to look at in the future. As I understand it, you can create dashboards in HA, so I imagine if you can leverage that, you can create a similar functionality, which would be a good thing.

I am interested in doing this on the 7.1 inch screen. Any modifications needed to do this? Thank you!
