Seeing SVS came out with integrated full room correction on their latest SB-17 Ultra subwoofer, I got a bit of envy, but that subwoofer is massive overkill and WAAAAAAY out of my budget. Then I found out about DSPeaker’s Anti-Mode unit and figured for the price I ought to give it a try with my, “humble,” SB-3000. Came in today, ran the calibration and…ooooh my this thing is just amazing. Best damn ~$300 I’ve ever spent on my system! Never ever managed to get the bass on this thing nearly as clean, clear, and, “fast sounding,” using the WiiM Ultra’s room correction as I did with this thing. 10/10 highly, highly recommend for anyone who has a subwoofer!

That was my experience as well. The only reason I got rid of it was that I had a loud on/off noise from my Kef Kube 8b into my other sub that the 8033 could not block. So I went over to the far more complex world of MSO and a miniDSP 2x4HD.

I like the 8033 so much that I ended up ordering an Anti-Mode X2D! Comes in Monday and I can hardly wait!

Can i use an Antimode 8033 with a 5.1 homecinema setup or is it only useful for 2.1 stereo setups? The description always talks about stereo. I have no clue.

8033 is just for the sub, so it doesn’t matter if it’s 2.1, 5.1, 7.1 etc it will work fine

Received my Anti-Mode X2D yesterday and it is splendid. Actually brought out parts of the frequency spectrum that I had no idea were completely missing, a feat the WiiM Ultra’s room correction could never achieve. It’s not perfect, I still have this massive dip somewhere between 150-200Hz, but overall this is way better than I could otherwise get with just the WiiM itself. I’m not even using the WiiM’s EQ or room correction itself anymore, relying instead on the tone controls in the X2D itself to create a sort of Harman curve, and it sounds just amazing! I applied the used/refurb coupon so I paid under $500 shipped and it was absolutely worth it. Now what to do with this 8033 Cinema that I don’t need anymore?

Great to hear, but not unexpected. Dips cannot be cured with equalization. You may need a second subwoofer for that, although at 150-200 Hz moving your main speakers may be more effective.

I’ve tried moving my speakers several inches to no avail, so I give up.

The good news is that dips are less obnoxious than peaks.

You would have to use it on the input side of the ADI-2, using the superior DAC in the ADI-2 after that to convert to analogue. As for the equalization, you would do that first with the X2d and after that perhaps still a bit on the ADI-2. The advantage of equalizing with the ADI-2 is that you can do that separately for left and right, not to mention that the ADI-2 also provides somewhat more advanced tone control, and balance and loudness control. But to avoid confusion, this thread really is about the AM 8033. You can easily connect the 8033 to the rca output of the ADI-2, and a power amp or active speakers to the xlr output of the ADI-2.

Thank you very much. Very helpful.
But does the time/phase adjustments on the Anti mode interfere with the peq adjustments of the ADI2?
I've read on the RME forums to do the REW measurements and then adjust. Won't all this get interfered with by the X2D? I'm beginning to realize why the 8033 might make more sense.

Thank you for the impressions. I'm considering an Antimode 8033s II to replace a Dayton DSP-LF: https://staging.daytonaudio.com/product/1664/dsp-lf-low-frequency-dsp-controller

Nothing wrong with the Dayton, but I'm wondering if the 8033 is a step up in performance? It appears difficult to find technical specs of the filtering/EQ capabilities of each of the devices compared to each other. Wondering if anyone else has additional thoughts.

EDIT: I just went ahead and bought one. Looking forward to trying it out.

The Antimode 8033s II was delivered and I just spent a couple hours calibrating, playing around with the settings and listening. In short, it does an amazing job flattening out the bass response in my room. It's a clear step up in performance over the Dayton DSP-LF, which was pretty good for only $60 or so. But playing bass sweeps, it's obvious the Antimode provides a more linear, less boomy response in room. I'm using it with a Rythmik L12 and KEF LS50 Meta. I have the high-pass filter on my NAD D3045 set at 120Hz and it sounds wonderful. My other systems are hooked up to Denon AVR's, which I'm using in conjunction with Audyssey One Evo Neuron to provide awesome bass performance. The Antimode is a great little device for a desktop setup if you don't currently have a way to EQ your subwoofer.

Is Antimode better than Audyssey XT32 when it comes to bass eq?

It's hard to compare since they're different subwoofers/systems in different rooms. I would say with the help of A1 Evo Neuron, bass sounds the best.
