My ultra-macro setup. Hand-holdable!
DSC_0270-02.jpg

Nikon Df -> Nikon extension ring M2 -> Nikon bellows model II -> Nikkor-Q Auto 13.5cm 1:3.5 -> SB-29s

The focus ring of the lens is busted, hence the gaffer tape. I have an E2 ring coming that will semi-automate the diaphragm operation. Right now I'm operating the diaphragm manually.

This setup provides a maximum reproduction ratio of approximately 1.6x life-size. This is a TO-92 package, approximately 7.5mm tall, shot hand-held using the above setup at maximum extension:

Of course at full-size, the image is quite soft, due to severe diffraction.

Half-frame 35 mm film camera that I bought cheaply and refurbished. Works great! Photographed with Olympus Pen-F (digital) with vintage Canon 50/2.8 FD macro lens. Original image is 80 megapixel raw file generated using pixel-shift mode.

I finally went 100% digital by selling my Leica M3 and Nikon F100 and haven't looked back... the M10P is an amazing body, and 99% of the time I'm shooting the 50mm noctiulx ... mostly street photography as a hobby.

not sure how you all get your pictures to post so large but I'm attaching pics of my kit with the "attach file" feature of this site.

Wow, I dreamed about a bellows when I was much younger and had gotten into macro photography. Never got there. Now that I have the means, I have not tried to do now either. Need to get the motivation level higher to do it! :)

All of the really cool camera stuff is my son's -- I am not above posting his photos, though.
As - sort of - a corollary: any of my own photos of even moderately cool camera stuff that I post are most likely of stuff that belongs to him, but (and not always for clearly understood reasons) lives, or is at long term storage, at our house.

Now that he is married (!) and he and his wife are freshly-minted homeowners... maybe he'll reclaim some of it(?). :)

ahem. Like those two monstrous zooms pictured above -- which I think he collected for their weirdness value. :)
I am pretty sure he was drawn to one of them principally due to an engraving error (one of two on the lens) on the barrel.

I believe Lens Mad in Japan was the planned sequel to Sleepless in Seattle.

Just an entry level Nikon D3500 with kit lens, 55-200 mm VR and a 35 mm 1.8 prime. And a soft box for product photography.

D850 with various Nikon AF-S lenses, D800 for backup, Pixel 4 when I am lazy. The relatively inexpensive Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF-S takes amazing pictures. Nikon glass with internal VR need repairs if they get banged around even a little bit.
New and better these days seems to mean more pixels, higher ISO and higher frame rates. What I really would like to see is improved dynamic range, which is nothing like B&W film.

Don't have time to take photos of everything, but here is the Nikon Z 6 + adapted Sigma 100-400:

DSC_0316.jpg

I am looking forward to Nikon's new 100-400 native lens next year. Here is a sweet L-bracket I picked up for the camera:

DSC_0306_2.jpg

On the camera is the Nikkor Z 24-70 f/4 S. All of Nikon's new glass is class-leading. I have the Z 85mm f/1.8 S on the way.

These photos were taken with my Nikon D5300 backup camera + 50mm f/1.8 G, with the SB-700 Speedlight mounted. Light is everything:

However shown mounted to the D5300 here is the Rokinon 16mm f/2 manual focus lens. Photo taken with the Z 6.

I now have the Z 6II which is a revision with some important improvements depending on your needs.
