Perlisten Owners' Lounge - Discuss all things Perlisten.

Hi again, thanks for your responses, I live down under so I maybe a bit limited in what I can buy here but worst case I will just have to buy OS and pay freight and customs etc.
I guess the reason for my question was I have seen people running their Perlistens with the 1ET7040SA modules and I couldn't understand why they would need so much more power when the 400 series looks like it should be plenty.
I am conscious of somebody doing something stupid with volume control hence why I was heading towards the 400 which would probably still destroy the speakers at full blast, these are my end game speakers and are bloody expensive here so whilst I don't want to skimp on amps I don't want to go nuts either for no gain - 400 series looks like what I'll grab
Cheers peeps

Alan March sells high quality Class D amps in Australia=March Audio.

I understand, that's a long ways from the U.S. I know Perlistens are a big investment so definitely go with a good AMP. I like the distortion numbers but what kind of control would you get out of an AMP like that. Perhaps better than I think. It might be ok.

Perlisten subs are very luxurious, I haven't came across much third party measurements for them but I can't imagine it being bad. But I do think cost of entry is very high. I pair my Perlisten with the much more affordable SVS.
Audioholics have done numerous reviews with measurements of their subs. They measure at state of the art levels

I a huge fan of both Perlistens and SVS. The internal components on the Perlistens are very high quality compared to even the higher end brands.

Or you could keep you S5Ms and use them as unsurpassed surrounds If you buy the S7Ts. Hardly anyone would have that outstanding combination.
I would blend in a little bass from the Perlistens, I think they probably do better in enhancing the mixture between the subs unless you're running top of the line subs. I have 3 subs and the Autophase function with the Anthem does an excellent job blending them into my system. I add a little bass back from my mains.

I listened to the S7s this week for a short time. My first impression was very positive. The bass... it was hard to believe there was no sub on in the 2ch demo. Anyway, it sounded excellent right after a longer demo of the Dyptique 160 mk2, which is also a very impressive speaker.

My question is... how flexible is placement with the S7? My main living space is such that I have limited placement flexibility. Side walls are not an issue but the distance to the wall behind the speaker has to be pretty close. My current speakers are about 7 inches away from the wall behind them. Does anyone have any thinking on the Perlistens and distance from the front wall?

Nice, I had the same impression when I hooked them up at a shop I have access to and used a few different systems and AMP's. Extremely powerful sound stage I know rooms are all different but if you start with amazing how can you go wrong. I don't think you can because other brands still have to overcome any room flaws. Of course after trying all of those trash brands (Sometimes touted here as great by Krabapple ) as the source I went back to the Anthem, Lydorf and Trinnov to confirm they just raise the level of experience with these Perslistens. I also moved away from McIntosh and a few other high end brands back to the Emotiva DR3 and one I hooked those up I was very pleased due to the shear power and presence that seemed to bring out the best in the Perlistens.

Does anyone has the D15s subwoofer?
I was surprised it has no automatic calibration!!!

Britain’s AVforums has a very active Perlisten sub owners forum. Not sure what u mean by automatic calibration? (Automatic??)

It has an outstanding DSP probably best of all subs. Please read above review for description of that DSP.

I mean like SVS or JL Audio which both have iOS applications to calibrate the sub to the room!

Calibrate to the room?? Do you mean presets like large room, IMAX, small room, etc? To me calibrate means using a microphone and AVR/P software to produce a room EQ. The review I posted has an in depth discussion of the DSP.

Oh I think I finally get what you are asking. Oh my gosh, the Perlisten subs have an incredible ability to manually adjust PEQs. Many more than SVS and using an app. Please read the rerview.

The app doesn’t work! Have been trying to connect via Bluetooth but nothing happens, emailed Perlisten and waiting for a response!

Are we saying autophase matching to mix in the mains?
This is what I am talking about

Look at the app

You still don’t have the app up yet? Is your phone android or IOS?

I have the app but there is no automatic calibration just manual and you need REW!!!
For such expensive subwoofers I would have expected to have automatic calibration like JL audio!!

I looked up the automatic calibration of JL Audio. I was unaware that it existed. If it works as advertised by their literature it certainly would be a great thing to have.

But why would you need that? Do you not have an AVR/P that offers room correction software? Whole room EQ such as advanced audyssey releases and newer DIRAC releases would surely outperform an offering from JL Audio. If the latter was successful you would think JL Audio would market it as a stand alone.
