I have a car with an atrocious audio system. A lot of the fault is not likely the audio system itself, but the car, which is a small mid engine two seater. Little room, few speakers, pretty high noise floor at speed.

Anyway! I want to PEQ things. I listen only via Bluetooth (iPhone > Stock Head Unit) and I don't want to start digging into the dash to replace stuff. Does anyone have a BT dongle or an app or something which they use to PEQ their car?

I'm a tidal subscriber. Don't think Tidal does PEQ.

I'm also a Roon person. ARC does PEQ but man, in anywhere with meh bandwidth it's a lot worse at buffering than Tidal. Also, this doesn't get me podcasts and etc.

Maybe a dongle? Does anyone make something which does BT > 3.5mm or some such, with DSP, which I could stash in my glove compartment and use as my AUX option?

Maybe an app? Is the iPhone still as locked down as it used to be when it comes to middling the audio stack?

I figure I'm not alone in this, lots of nerds here who probably have similar issues with their cars.

The Qudelix 5K is your best bet.

You'll have to find a way to get Aux into your head unit though.

Using it, you can apply PEQ to all of your music Apps, via iPhone->BT or USB->5K->Aux->Head Unit.

You can configure the 5K using the Qudelix App and there's even a special car mode to preserve its battery and to automatically turn it on/off with the car.

Pretty cool little dongle thing. I have a 3.5mm input in the glove compartment already so this could work really well. I'll check it out, thanks. Now I suppose I'm obligated to develop a curve in REW while someone drives me around at highway speed!

Thx this thing is soooo cool!

I use a Q5K in the car and it works great. In fact, I am not looking forward to buying a new car as so many new models have discontinued the 3.5 Aux input.

The first thing that I would do is apply some sound deadening materials (Dynamat is one name brand, there are other, less expensive brands of similar stuff) strategically.

could anyone recommend a modest (<$500) amp to pair with the Qudelix 5K for use in a car (4 speakers, 1sub)?
