Plastic from which I heard from dealersI was always wondering, what material are Blades made of?
(love the mat gray ones)
Don't recall if they mention what they are made of but you can see quite a lot insideI was always wondering, what material are Blades made of?

I have seen it but I couldn't tell, plastic or wood can both look the same if coated with something special for the application.Don't recall if they mention what they are made of but you can see quite a lot inside
I got my old, unreliable MacBook Pro fixed there way back when, until the cursed thing broke again outside of the AppleCare period. I had to walk to the top of that staircase to go to the distastefully named Genius Bar.
The display on the Audio Research piece brings back memories of the digital speedometers in '90s Cadillacs. Can't help but think of those random robots from Futurama![]()

Glad you ask...@VintageFlanker Still looking forward to your write-up of your listening impressions!![]()
Hello VintageFlanker,Glad you ask...
Well, apologies to everyone, I clearly failed that one. Several times when I had a tiny bit of availability, I tried starting typing, but honestly lacked both inspiration and motivation to produce a proper write-up, not to mention purely based on subjective impressions. I'm just not good at it.
So here's my proposal: you ask about a specific system, then I could respond by very brief thoughts about it...

Or maybe a one sentence description of the systems which impressed you most (in a positive or negative sense) like:So here's my proposal: you ask about a specific system, then I could respond by very brief thoughts about it...
Doesn’t surprise me . My Topping Pa5 sounds better than my Naim Uniti Atom. 300 vs 2500 bucksWow! Amazing photos and, as others have said, pure porn!!
As an aside, I once had a half hour to kill waiting for my better half and was next door to a UK hi-fi dealer, so I wandered round looking at the various offerings from B&W, Naim, etc., all stuff I'd seen before in magazines.
In the middle of their largest room stood a pair of those huge Focal Utopias, they must have been at least 10 ft tall!!(don't remember the exact model now, but I'm assuming they were the top of the line) hooked up to some Naim amp the size of a chest freezer and a ridiculously expensive Naim streamer. I didn't get any attention from the salespeople, I clearly didn't look like I could afford anything (they were right) but on my way out I mentioned the Focals and the salesperson offered to demo them, he must have been bored.
I sat down and he put on a live version of Hotel California. Sounded terrible!! Bass was so boomy, I couldn't believe it.
System cost more than my house.
Well it certainly wouldn't surprise me now. This was pre-ASRDoesn’t surprise me . My Topping Pa5 sounds better than my Naim Uniti Atom. 300 vs 2500 bucks
You don’t always get your moneys worth in audio.
I had a demo of these Utopia speakers at a dealer in Orange County and I was very impressed but you need an enormous amount money and space to have that in your home.Wow! Amazing photos and, as others have said, pure porn!!

I think the issue may have been that the salespeople in the store had no idea it sounded terrible and we're doing nothing to remedy it.I had a demo of these Utopia speakers at a dealer in Orange County and I was very impressed but you need an enormous amount money and space to have that in your home.
I guess if one owns a 12,000 sqft home they probably do!
