I just bought one to add a third turntable. Yes it’s antiquated and unnecessary but it’s fun, and unlike DAC’s, they don’t all sound the same. It’s very quiet and sounds good. I don’t know what the differences are from the previous model. It looks the same, has the same or similar specs and costs less. How often does that happen?

I think there was probably no market at its old price. It was the most expensive component in their 1/2u series which is untenable for a phono pre.

The usual suspect audio writers said it was an amazing value at over $500. People usually believe what these gurus say. You could be right though. All the new hipsters buying vinyl rigs aren’t reading Stereophile and, to them, over $500 for a phono preamp is a lot.
