Palmer ORBIT 11 Cardioid Coaxial 3-way studio monitor (MSRP 799€/899$)

I tried to get an idea of these speakers, but to be honest, in 80 pages I've found 20-30 helpful posts about them, all diluted in a sea of noise.
And if we removed the exhausting controversy over the orange ring, this discussion would be half as long.
And please, if anyone asks something that could get buried in tons of other useless discussions, reply, "Just read before posting!"

Thus Mission accomplished :p .. You can thank us

I want to replace my beloved Polk R700 and Hypex Amp with the Palmer Orbits.

Can't wait to see the Klippel measurements

Why it's sold out everywhere? Can't find it anywhere in France.

They did not anticipate the hype ?

Without any experience in the field, how could they have known that something like hype would develop?
For a newcomer to any market, it makes sense to wait and see how supply and demand develop.

Projecting demand accurately for a totally new line is pretty difficult and expensive, building more than a minimal number of units for the first run is therefore super risky, especially because some issues are inevitably only discovered after mass production starts and units reach consumers. Having product on hand that you can't sell has a lot of bad downstream effects on the business. A company like Adam hall does not get to its size by being reckless and bad at inventory management...

By the same token I expect the second run will make these speakers pretty easy to find compared to now.

The Orbit isn't Palmer's first monitor speaker. Though given how little splash its predesessor made, I can see why initial production quantity of the Orbit 11 was limited.

Aesthetically those look way better to my eyes. I'm not a huge fan of glossy finished speakers. I'm old school and strongly prefer wood finishes (preferably real veneer). :)

The Studiomon 5 does appear to be relatively low tech. Since that design, though, Palmer appears to have hired or contracted with some remarkably up-to-date competent engineering people.

They do look really classy - sort of 1970s high end classy. Only £157 each from Thomann.

You're welcome.
