Palmer ORBIT 11 Cardioid Coaxial 3-way studio monitor (MSRP 799€/899$)

I recived my Orbit 11 last week and love them !
I use the digital coax output of my Wiim Pro Plus .
I connect with german "Funk Tonstudiotechnik , CASA-T " cables .
It is a SPDIF to AES 3 transformer cable .
Sounds much better than the analog output of the Wiim .

I lower the bass output with the Orbit EQ . 28Hz is to much for most rooms .

Can you post a link to one of those cables? Thanks!

I understand the analog feed from the Wiim Pro Plus should be as transparent as the coaxial. Maybe you have not optimized the Wiim's output level?

BUT I just noticed a bit of background noise / hum with that cable .
Quite possible, since (as I see it) they are unbalanced analog outputs. With a balanced connection, this shouldn't happen. However, the digital connection eliminates the need for a additional A/D conversion. Whether this makes a noticeable difference in sound... I don't know.

Then don't buy these speakers. You definitely don't need low bass output when you're already having a subwoofer that you can engage at will

I was able to setup my pair today and have a quick listen. I ended up using the onboard filters (HPF + wall setting) before using my own EQ in the modal range as the low range output on these, while incredible, is too much for my small room which doesn't need much. Once setup, along with my subs (with MSO), I was very impressed. Very true to source and nothing to complain about. Imaging is spot on, and much like with my DIY cardioid speakers, it will simply play what is there. Material with depth will show that in a convincing way, and if something is in your face it will do that all the same. Combined with the measurements we've seen so far, Palmer seems to have a winner on hand. Truly unseen performance/features at this price point.

I'm not sure I get the low frequency complaints on these, are you saying they extend too low?

I would have thought that's a bonus as anyone looking at these could effectively use them as subs too, sound's like 5 of these as a base layer without subs would be great for a ht setup as every speaker is a sub lol. Even if it's only 25hz each speaker with room gain that's still pretty ridiculous to me and plenty for most.

It is not a complaint, just a finding. When buying these be prepared to have an EQ solution on hand. Although the onboard settings did a good job in shaping the curve, it of course cannot correct individual room resonances. To give these a fair chance I dialed them in like I would any other speaker.

What crossover did you use?

Let me throw in real quick that you can take my Orbit 11 off my hands. I realize it's not much help to most users, since they need a pair, but if someone here in Europe just wants one piece to test and can't get their hands on one otherwise because they're sold out, here's your chance. And I'd rather do it this way too, rather than send back to the dealer. PM if interested.

it is still available in some countries in europe, and in england, but not for a long time i guess

don't know, you have to be quick

I'm finding multiple European smaller stores that currently list them as in stock. Though especially with smaller and lesser known stores it's always prudent to ask to verify that that's indeed the case, instead of a mistake or deliberate fishing for customers.
