Palmer ORBIT 11 Cardioid Coaxial 3-way studio monitor (MSRP 799€/899$)

Well, two 8" woofers are about equivalent to a single 11" woofer, no slouch for the normal bass range (if rather shy for infra bass). The normal Thiel/Small cabinet size restrictions are largely bypassed with very large power availability to overcome internal air pressures. I imagine thermal level compression would be an issue for vary large room or venue use, but likely ok for most domestic rooms.

Can’t wait to see some Klippel measurements from these very interesting things.

I do hope Erin’s Audio Corner can get a pair too.

There can’t be too many first class, inexpensive, active speakers imo.

…Pps, am I wrong to be the only one concerned (so far), that there are no radiators?

However efficient any amp is, I’d like a few fins.

Chatting with Oliver from ‘Adam Hall’ this afternoon he mentioned that the Orbit might have been released under their ‘LD’ brand but the company decided to launch it under their ‘Palmer’ business , he also mentioned a collaboration with Porsche design.
See below.
Adam Hall have their own anechoic chamber and a newish 24 million Euro research/development establishment.

Palmer ‘Orbit’ ( in white) ordered, rrp over here in the UK is £700 per piece, expected from the 18th of this month.

Sorry, this may have already been mentioned, but when will it be available in Europe? Specifically in Spain, or at a Thomann store, for example?

Do you know whether the Orbit 11 can operate with consumer type SPDIF signals (with appropriate adaptor cables) or does it require full AES 3 protocol for digital input?

Ordered, though in black (the wife prefers it most, don't know why); ETA end of Feb/early March.
We'll wait ...
Anyone owning a Klippel within EU (sorry, UK and Swiss excluded) interested?

Why? Amir and manufacturer have allready agreed to measure.
I mean rather than doubling up and repeating same data I would rather see Erin measure other speakers for which there are no spins currently.

If Adam Hall has their own anechoic chamber, they must allready have some pretty solid measurements. Any plans @UffdiePalme to share?

There was some differences with Amir's and Erin's measurements, maybe caused by different sample(s).
So why not give the Klippels a run everywhere?

I like to have at least two.

Any and every measurement, and sets of, are more reliable when done at least twice, independently.

Let's be careful in going all out all at once, lest we forget what happened with another brand.

Also, there is a $2000 opportunity cost for every Klippel run. So let's not use that credit left and right.

Compression, Burst decay, and MD is something that Amir does not test.

If I could choose, I'd rather have Erin do the testing, as his reveals more data points to compare to the Orbit's competitors.

Of course, a full spin from either of them is already extremely valuable.

2 things:
1, Amir and Erin have different testing suites. Erin's is more exhaustive.
2, It reveals (at least somewhat) manufacturing consistency.

Not to mention it's always important for scientific data results to be consistent between users no matter what the field is. Never hurts to have more verification that things are working right all around.

Granted I did just get done wasting a bunch of time trying to explain to Dumbass Richie that having your speakers performance verified by a third party is super important but he's way too dumb to understand why. Why did I even talk to this guy....
