Palmer ORBIT 11 Cardioid Coaxial 3-way studio monitor (MSRP 799€/899$)

Look, I just want you to enjoy a good system as soon as possible, doesn't matter if it's just 8/10 or 8.2/10 instead of 9.7/10. Not that the latter can even be achieved without a well optimised room.
Thanks, really appreciate it :)

Human is funny huh. Some will jump on first chance to buy new things because they are interesting. Some will wait for years for the perfect one, that might not exist

Such a wide spectrum :)

Hi

At this stage of the thread, I believe we are running in circle , trying to find things to discuss about... If the measurements/reviews confirm what is advertised or purported, this would be one a superb deal $2K/pair for near endgame performance ..
we're living interesting times: 2 different companies coming up with gear that shake the market or at least have the potential of such, ASCI Labs and now, Palmer...
Wow!

I don't expect the boys at AsciLab to not react to this, they are interested in the ‘pro’ market.

Dont forget Audio First Cadentia 3.

On the other hand, I think Palmer Orbit has a bit of a tough time in this price range. The Neumann KH120II is its main rival, being the state of the art in itself. I don't think it will surpass it, but it has to be at least pretty good to compete.

@UffdiePalme :
This appears to be a closed enclosure for the bass drivers (fine), and and slit vents on both sides to serve cardioid for the coax (fine)..
I do see no vents for cooling the amps: what about that?
Its likely that just like current Genelecs the aluminum cabinet is used as a heatsink.

Why don’t you think it will surpass it? It almost certainly has more bass.

The cardioid and coaxial aspect could lead people to buy the Orbit 11 over the 120 even if certain aspects of performance are worse. In some rooms the features of the Orbit will be very beneficial compared to a standard 2-way.

Really the Orbit has a good place in the market almost guaranteed, if there aren't any serious gremlins hiding behind the promising FR and polar plots we've seen. Neumann should hope there are some, like low output, high noise, or high distortion... Maybe crazy high latency? Otherwise the only reason to buy the KH120 (or even kh150?) will be because you hate orange.

I assume they will eventually expand to active speakers when they have strong foothold in passive ones. Currently they can barely keep up with demand so understandably "not now" mindset

Not to mention 2x 8 inch VS 5.25 inch

True, and it's not a studio monitor either, but I thought we were talking about how they measure and perform which I think is very good in the case of Cadentia 3.
ordered one for a friend who is a mixing/mastering engineer. I guess they're studio alright
